Very nice area, staff were very friendly and helped us out alot, I read previous reviews and was shocked a little, but apparently since then they've had new staff....Only 1 little negative point was the hotel should of had more time to eat and more food at breakfast. ..

The hotel was a shocker! Small ,cramped ,disorganised reception. Staff not friendly , wanted 3 days payment upfront in Euro's and in CASH!! Room on 3rd floor with winding staircase (no elevator) with dirty carpets. Interior of room a disaster, dirty , heating /tv not working ..no view ..window leading to an exterior staircase. No cafetria or bar in premises.... More

Our experience was not quite as terrible as the other reviewers describe, thank goodness. We also booked through a hotel reservation service, and were told we need to pay cash upon arrival for our 5 night stay. We did that - paying in dollars for the quoted rate in Euros (exchange rate OK though not optimal). We had many problems... More

To start off we were not expecting much from this place because of the price. We showed up to the hotel and were asked to wait 15 minutes after paying up front for the room. It turns out instead of the "garden view" room we booked online we were shown to a tiny room 3 ft away from the reception... More

Stay here if you want but it didn't look very nice. We booked online using a credit card and when we arrived our room was given away. We were threatened about charging our credit card for five nights under the cancellation policy if we did not comply and stay in another hotel of his choice and pay cash for five... More

Booked this based on some good reviews on a hotel booking site. They must have been submitted by the owners buddies. Somehow, between the booking site and the hotel our reservation was cancelled. It could have been the booking site so I will not blame the hotel for that. However, they tried very hard to get us into a hotel... More

The manager is a bully - is rude and unapproachable - real control freak. They take money from your credit card and demand cash upfront. The rooms are hellish and unsafe - exposed wires and dirty. One youth staff member said 'we know the district and will find bad customer!' Very scarey! We realised that we had entered somewhere dangerous,... More

To call this establishment a hotel is vast overstatement. I have stayed in cheap hostels in India and Thailand that were much better. Disgusting is the only word to describe it, and it almost ruined my entire visit. I made a reservation one month before, having read reviews and having perused the website. All lies. The place was run by... More

The Sefa hotel is in a reasonable location on the old town in Istanbul, making it easy to get to the Blue Mosque, Ayasofia etc..but rooms are small, not very clean and look out onto a main road at the front. Staff tried very hard to sell us trips on our first night, ( they run a travel agency from... More

It is a bit hard to explain the mix feelings concerning my stay at this hotel since the experience is one of utter surrealism. On the one hand, it is superbly located close to the sea and just five to ten minutes from the blue mosque, Hagia Sofia, and the Arasta Bazaar with plenty of restaurants and supermarkets around for...
