My family and another family spent four nights at the Kumru hotel and we were delighted by the experience. The proprietor was extremely helpful and her being an American expat made for easy communication - in Turkey, the locals do not speak english very well at all and most times it is a struggle if you don't speak Turkish. She... More

We were visiting Istanbul (and Turkey) for the first time for our daughter's wedding. The Kumru Hotel was a great place to begin our adventure. The accommodations were modern and comfortable, bright and airy rooms, plenty of light for reading and a tasty breakfast buffet at no additional cost (with traditional Turkish delicacies as well as cereal and fresh squeezed... I've been to Istanbul for the third time and this hotel is the best so far. The manager was very friendly and polite, he answered all of our questions and gave us umbrellas when it was raining outside. They served perfect breakfast of fesh tasty products. We were checking out later at 6PM and stayed in the room at no... More

We were recommended this hotel as "acceptable" but decided to stay here anyway and I am so glad we did. This is not a luxury hotel by any means but what sets it apart is the customer service from owners Melissa and Abdul. They are truly fantastic hosts that do their best to make your vacation a truly memorable experience.... More

Stayed round the corner at a very pleasant place. On our last day in Istanbul, a Sunday, we wanted to do our laundry. Not so easy in Sultanahmet! The people at our place phoned a laundry but it was closed. The Best Western wouldn't help us because we weren't staying there. Walked by Kumru Hotel and asked for advice. Not... More

This nice boutique hotel was conveniently located at the Sultanahmet District where major tourist attractions such as the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, Topkapi Palace and Grand Bazaar were all within easy walking distance. The Sultanahmet Tram Station was also within walking distance despite of a short steep walk. There were quite a few good restaurants nearby. It was modernly decorated... More

We are just back from Turkey where we spent 3 days in Istanbul at Kumru hotel. The hotel has a wonderful location and is a short walk from most places to visit in Istanbul, Also, the places that you cannot walk to, the tram station is just a 10 min walk. The rooms are perfect, very modern and quite spacious.... More

Words cannot describe how thrilled my mom and I were to have Kumru Hotel as our first stop on our Turkey adventure. Melissa (co-owner) was extremely communicative via email leading up to the trip and helpful in determining how we spent our days, booking reservations and helping with trip ideas. The rooms are clean, chic and roomy and the morning... More

I returned to Kumru for my second stay and was treated like family. Melissa and Abdullah are caring, friendly, and real. They have what it takes to run a hotel successfully. The hotel decor is tasteful and fun from the lobby up to the roof top breakfast area. The bed is amazingly comfy and the bathroom is chic. I can... More

We really had a nice time staying at Kumru Hotel for 5 days. We arrived pretty early in Istanbul and Abdul was kind enough to pick us up at the Blue Mosque because we couldn't find our way to the hotel. Melissa was waiting for us at the hotel with the key of our (super big) room. She offered us... More
