I stayed at this hotel twice. Rooms are clean and spacious and very comfortable. The beds are heavenly. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is one special person who was especially helpful to me named Ahu. In March I had an accident where I broke a leg and an arm. Ahu took care of me - wheeled me... More

In Istanbul for one day, we chose a location which would offer most landmarks within walking distance. Hagia Sophia Hotel is right across the street from the museum-mosque, one garden away from the Blue Mosque. The tram linking the historic Sultanahmet Old City to Pera - Galata - Taksim has a stop a few steps away. The hotel itself is... More

The hotel is located in the old city, close to all the main sites and many good restaurants. Room was great, staff was very friendly, kind and helpful. Breakfast buffet was varied and would satisfy any traveler. Very safe neighborhood within walking distance to every thing. I would not hesitate to stay here again

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights from 26 June to 30 June 2015. The hotel is in a great position in the old city very close to sights including the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and Grand Bazaar. The hotel itself is very comfortable and the rooms that we were in were recently renovated and good quality. The buffet... More

The position of hotel to all the major sights in old Istanbul is fantastic. Rooms are very nice, bathroom spacious, with an interesting shower that is terrific. You pay extra for views , but basically rooms are the same. The only down to the hotel is the extra cost for breakfast. We had travelled all over Turkey and breakfast was... More

I stayed at Hagia Sophia for 2 nights over the weekend with a friend and we really enjoyed my stay. The location of the hotel is very good where there were a lot of tourist attractions and lots of restaurants to choose from within walking distance. The rooms were also nice and the staff were quite friendly too. The breakfast... More

Recommended. We visited this restaurant as part of a tour group from a cruise ship. The food was excellent as was the service. It's in the old city area of the town (that 3% of Istanbul that's still part of Europe) near Hagia Sophia and the other antiquities. I didn't find the food to be as tasty as Greek food,... More

located very close to major sites (a few metres from Roman cistern), the front courtyard is a great place for lunch away from crowds and there are large umbrellas to protect you from sun and rain. Watch out for large tour groups who eat inside as this may slow service and don't sit near front door as smokers come and... More

for the price this hotel is amazing. Very comfortable room. Would have liked some more coat hangers, but that is a small point. The location is fabulous. All the sites are in easy walking distance as are lots of restaurants and bars. Loved the mirror that is also a TV! The buffet breakfast is very good and the view from... More

Strategically located in the Sultanahmet area just a couple blocks from the main square, the hotel was functional and more than suitable as a base to see the major attractions nearby. Checkin was efficient, the staff was attentive and more than friendly. I was on the 3rd floor (310) and found a large room, very clean, somewhat sparse modern design.... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
