This is a very good place in Istanbul for visiting the great Sultanahmet. It's 5 minutes away to pretty much every attraction in this district. The hotel itself is not the best I've been to due to its size. There's an obvious lack of space in the rooms but that can't bother you if you go there for sightseeing: I... More

I was impressed with the location of the hotel.Short walking distance to the Spice Market and all the other major attractions in Sultanamet.Rooms are small and very basic but the staff makes up for that.Really friendly and helpful. The breakfast room has a beautiful view of the Golden Horn.Being a solo traveller I appreciated the fact that you had to check... I stayed here as part of an Intrepid tour, with extra days at the beginning and end. You do get what you pay for - it's at the cheaper end, so the rooms are small, the bathroom is TINY and the service from the staff veers close to that at Fawlty Towers, however there are positives too. The location is... More

We struggled to find this hotel which is now called The Golden Horn Hotel - however, there is another Golden Horn Hotel up the hill from this one which is where the taxi dropped us. The staff directed us to this hotel, right behind the train station. Pluses - close to everything in the old town (Topkapi, Aya Sofia, Basilica,... More

Close walking distance to major attractions. Staff very helpful, spoke enough English to communicate basics and be helpful with arrangements. Great view from breakfast room and very good breakfast. Rooms small, beds mediocre. Bathrooms totally inferior in both rooms we stayed in - very small, shower drainage onto floor.

Stayed here for 1 night, found it a little difficult to find so had to ask some of the locals. Turns out its right next to the main tram line which I took from the airport. The hotel is very close to all major sites such as the blue mosque, the waterfront etc. Room was very comfortable with a very... More

Helpful staff and 5-15 min walking time to most interesting places in old city Istanbul. Airport shuttle works fine and great restaurants in neighbourhood. A very reasonable prices for rooms and nice view from breakfast room over the roofs to Bosphorus and yes breakfast was including all what you may need for day trips.

I visited this hotel last year, and after I had a disaster hotel reservation somewhere else and checked out after one night instead of 6 nights I went on feet to the guys there, they know me from last year, and asked for a room. They were very nice even with no reservation and they offered me a room immediately.... More

upon arrival at this hotel we had problems with our reservation. the room was cramped and tiny and didnt look anything like the photos advertised. The bathroom was not clean, toilet and shower a complete wreck upon arrival. We were advised that it would be cleaned by end of the day, however by night it was still dirty at which... More

The hotel is very near from Sirkeci station and from the pier where leave the cruises to Bosforo. Right now there is a construction in front a hotel but is not a problem at all. The staffs was very friendly. The room and the bathroom is small but if you are like us and dont stay too much time in... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
