Hubby and I booked the most economical room at antik for 4 nights. The room was one of the smaller rooms (other rooms are spacious) but was clean and neat. Daily breakfast was fantastic (yogurt, olives, shaved meats, boiled egg, juice, tea/coffee, cookies and cake), served by sweet Carolina. The location is the best part, as a taxi gets you... More

The hotel is in a very convenient location - close to Sultanahmet, Hagia Sofia and the tram. Very cozy, small (only 7 rooms), very friendly staff. The breakfast was also good. Our room had all necessary amenities - shower, hair dryer, air conditioner, TV. There is a beautiful view from the dining room window - Bosphorus and Kuchuk Hagia Sophia.... More

We had a great experience staying here! The room and service was excellent. We were close to many local, authentic restaurants with great prices. The street is steps away from the touristy bustle and historic sites. A simple breakfast is served with fresh bread on the top floor of the building with an open terrace! We would definitely stay here... More

Amazing! The hotel staff was so warm and accomadating; they made us feel like family. They gave us great recommendations for things to see, places to eat, etc. and happily helped us get a taxi to the airport, call ahead to our next hotel, and generally made life much easier for us. The hotel itself is on a little street... More

I spoke with a guy from their change office (currency exchange) around Sultanahmet's tram station and he directed me to head towards behind the Blue Mosque which is less than 10 minutes away, Antik Sofia is about 5 - 10 minutes walk from the famous Blue Mosque. Location Minutes walk away from Blue Mosque, minutes away from eateries, it's one... More

Finding the hotel was an experience of its own! Expect to carry bags up narrow stairs, 6 rooms on three floors. The room was large enough and had a turkish old charm. Clean, inviting linens! Reception and breakfast areas are on third floor, our room was on second floor. Very friendly atmosphere, boutiques nearby, park setting off hotel, centrally located.... More

Cannot find something to discourage traveller to not book a room in the Antik Sofia Hotel, which is located accross the little Hadga Sofia and in the centrum of all. Few minuts to the Blue mosque and to all incl. Grand Bazzar and with a street car for about one dollar you get to the harbor for a boat sightseeing... More

This small but nice hotel is perfectly located. Close to all Sultanahmet highlights and on a nice grass square, facing the small Aya Sofia. From the breakfast room you can see the boats coming on to the Bosporus. The owners were very nice, kind and helpful. The rooms were clean and well kept. Sheryl (the owner) is American and has... This was a fairly average budget accommodation hotel. The rooms were clean. It had free WiFi that was moderately fast (good enough for video calls). The breakfast was good (the French Toast was a welcome surprise and deviation from standard continental fare. For the price I paid (120 TL a nigh) it was pretty cheap for Istanbul in Sultanhamet. It... More

Recently met my daughter and friend met here after their semester at sea. The biggest plus goes to the location and friendliness of the staff. One of the owners is English speaking and was quite accommodating by providing recommendations for activities and side trips. She coordinated a wonderful side trip to Cappadocia for us which we are still talking about.... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
