I stayed at the Stray Cat hostel in July 2015. It was in a great location, close to main areas in Istanbul and very close to the tram. I haven't stayed at many hostels but I found it clean, quiet, with friendly staff and cats!! The staff would recommend good places to go/eat. Breakfast was pretty basic but there was... More

A cute place to stay in Istanbul, if you love cats and like a smaller intimate more grungy/cool kind of place. It was a bit tricky to find, but really well located close to the tram line and waterfront on the other side of town. One massive hill is right near it which is kind of annoying, but you can... During a three day stay in Instanbul we randomly chose that hostel and were not disappointed. All you'd expect from a good and cheap hostel, even a small breakfast. If you don't like cats you should choose a different hostel though. If you're looking for a hostel close to Taksim and don't mind cats and a little alternative atmosphere, this... More

Really cool place to stay while visiting Istanbul. The staff is super awesome and help you out a lot. I visited Istanbul with a friend and stayed here for 5 days. The rooms were clean and the hang out area was nice as well. Do ask the staff for tips and recommendations to visit places.

The staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgable! They gave us excellent recommendations for places to visit/eat. The location was also very good. Only a short walk to lots of great restaurants and bars. Very clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend staying here! :)

Welcomed the eager support & willingly shared tips from all the staff. Appreciated the warm generosity of the host even more so that it was coupled with a wry, wordly cynicism. Great location for exploring (once you've learnt to negotiate the warren of twisted hills & steep stairways). Felt very at home here.

This place totally met my expectations and the stay was even nicer. The hostel really hosts stray cats and beautiful kittens played with me whenever I was in the lounge in my free time. its a totally hip place and the staff are super helpful and cool. Highly recommended for solo travellers and backpackers. Taksim is just 10 minutes uphill... More

If you are a cat lover then you have to stay here! When we visited there were 3 new kittens only a month old which was the highlight. The cats bring guests together and makes a great social environment to meet other travellers. Staff are very friendly and helpful and spend time with you giving suggestions on what to see... More

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighborhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
