Stayed here twice for short trips through Istanbul. Quiet, clean and with very good staff. It is not in the tourist centre of Istanbul. It is in a bustling "local" neighbourhood (quite near a busy street) but the hotel itself is quiet and the area feels very safe. There were good restaurants nearby (all of them alcohol-free).

This place was great. The historic Fatih neighbourhood is centrally located. Just tucked around the corner from the main street and a block away from one of Istanbul's main arteries; only a ten minute walk to the Aksaray metro station and that can get you anywhere you want to go. The hotel has a very modern, luxurious feel to it... More

My friends and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and loved it. It is located in a neighborhood that is active during the day but refreshingly quiet at night. The staff was a highlight to me and my friends. They were always smiling and was eager to help us in any way they could. The rooms are nice... More

Bit out of the famous tourist areas, but still very convenient located to visit Istanbul. It's only 10-15 minutes to the nearest tram station (Aksaray) and close to the Fatih Mosque. It's a 4-floor hotel with 20 airconditioned rooms and they serve an excellent breakfast from 7:30 till 10:30. A Luggage storage room is available in case your return flight... More

As former guests in such touristic places like Rome, Venice, London, or New-York, this hotel gave us one of the best welcoming with a very nice and helpful staff : Turkish coffee for our arrival, Istanbul map spotting for the best places to visit, special breakfast buffet for our early departure at 6 O'Clock, and so on... So this is... More

Staying in Fener & Balat

Neighborhood Profile
Fener & Balat
This sleepy and rather socially conservative area of Istanbul hosts a small but thriving Jewish community, the patriarchate of the Eastern Orthodox Church, and some of the most beautiful churches and Christian art in the world. Much of what’s most interesting to witness in Fener and Balat sits between the surviving ancient city walls of Constantinople and the serene shores of the Golden Horn. Despite the many splendid sights, historic attractions, stunning vistas, and warm Turkish welcome, the area remains largely unperturbed by the tourist trade that characterizes the atmosphere in nearby Sultanahmet and around the Grand Bazaar. Travelers that like to explore off the beaten track will reap big rewards for making the effort to visit this low-key part of town.
