I had two stays here - at the start and at the ending of my 3 weeks in the Middle East. Both rooms were small (even by Middle-East Standards), but more troubling was the lack of maintenance (burned out light-bulbs), and the lack of staff being able to communicate in English. One of the front desk attendants is reasonably good... More

The room was clean, breakfast was ok, it would have been nice if the capuccino machine had worked. A few little repairs in the bathroom would be good. The location is great, the staff very friendly. Anyway we made the reservation via HRS and they market the Sultan Palace as 4 star hotel. It is definitely not 4 stars. The... More

I choose this hotel, because it is in 5 minute walk from the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, Topkapi Palace etc. For an affordable price, you get a clean room with nice furnitures, a very good breakfast, and a helpful, kind staff. Our room had a strange layout with a corridor-like part leading to the window (French balkony), and therefore it... More

Organized hotel with very helpful and nice staff. Rooms are also clean and tidy. As for the food, they offered simple but delicious food. The terrace view at the hotel is super, whereby u can see most of the beautiful Istanbul :) I totally recommend this hotel as it is mainly close to the touristic sites in the city.

I stayed at this hotel for four nights and the hotel service was awesome. The hotel is very clean, very organized, there's always someone at the lobby. Safe for a female traveling alone. The hotel employees are very sweet and nice. The view from the terrace on the fourth floor is breathtaking! I couldn't ask for more.

We stayed here for 5 nights. The kids loved it, plenty of food to choose, from burgers, wraps, pancakes, soups, stews, rice etc. they claim to have 4 a la cart restaurants, however there is one other dinning room that serves 4 styles of food, Fish, Italian, Ottoman & Steak. We didn't enjoy the Ottoman food, however the steak &... More

A general point regarding the Historic part of Istanbul [European side]. Unless you stay extremely close to the tram tracks you will find it has steep hills, often cobbled. Obviously the majority of hotels are in these lanes and side streets, so if you have difficulty in walking, make sure your hotel is on the flat. Furthermore there is a... More

We ended up here after our original hotel gave our room away. We ended up much better off. Building has been modernised. Room was quite large. The view from the terrace was amazing and there was plenty to eat at breakfast. It is very close to Blue Mosque, about 10-15 minute walk, but it is quite a steep hill to... More

When we arrived at the hotel, the owner said that he had to cancel our booking and give the room to somebody else because our credit card did not respond which is a big lie because I never had this problem. Additionally; even it happened, he should have still kept the room because we arrived for check-in at 5pm which... More

We spent a week here. My wife, our baby and myself. It was a great location; few steps from Sultan Ahmed Mid an, but steep hill and needed a good effort to push the buggy up and down. Mehmet the owner was very helpful despite the language barrier. As a general rule while in Istanbul it's better to prepare yourself... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
