It is difficult to find the hotel, so if you're trying to find it look/ask for Ziya Baba restaurant and it's there. You go to the travel agent next door to check in. This was done very efficiently but they said that they've turned some of the rooms into apartments so now have only 4 rooms. The staff in the... More

Firstly not a hotel but B&B, however if you want a cheap room with breakfast it is ideal. Has everything you need for a pleasant stay if you don't mind basic accommodation and is in a quiet less touristy part of Istanbul. If you like luxury don't stay here. Breakfast in attached restaurant round corner is of the Turkish variety... More

It is a very simple and clean hotel thats worth it. Safe neighbourhood and you can have breakfast in a traditional authentic turkish restaurant downstairs at very good non tourist prices with local people, we also had our evening meal their very prompt service and clean, family run which makes all the diference. Sultan Ahmet mosque etc 200 metres... The... More

There are good and bad things to say about our stay at Hotel Byzas. First of all, it is not a hotel, I would say it is more accurate to say that you are staying in a room on a B&B basis. We booked this on Booking.com as a 'hotel' but have found on a number of occasions that their... More

Accommodation is excellent. we stayed from 29 may till 2 June. All major places are near by, although you need to travel 200 meter upward to reach to SultanAhmet tram station. Service is at par, but you can find few minor issues here and there. one of the clean staff is half mad and he has thrown our paper bag... More

All the saff very nice an helpfull. It is a very simple and clean hotel that worth it. Safe neiborhood and you can have breakfast in a traditional turkish restaurant with local people also. That for me makes all the diference. In the hotel's street you will find local stores, barber shop, coffea shops and not turistic prices! The only... More

Byzas Hotel is located at only 5 minutes walking from Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia. Room wasn't big but it was clean and bathroom was quite large with everything we needed. Good breakfast; wi-fi was available for the guest. The man at the reception was very kind and happy to help us.

Byzas is a great b&b find, geting many top scores. But it suffers for sleep quality which can be rough. The double bed was actually two unattached single beds pushed together, so they slide apart and cause discomfort. Additionally, the pillows are skimpy and neck pain can occur. Most importantly though, the walls were very thin and with a loud... More

Small family hotel, although it is actually more rooms with private bathroom. The location is good, a few minutes walk from the Blue Mosque, a bit hilly. The rooms are simple, with no TV, in our room was the air conditioning and electric kettle. It was a bit chilly, heating is an electric heater, and a longer time to warm... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
