The hostel is a hostel. it is what we expected and nothing more (regarding the level of the room). however, there is no other hostel that the people working are so nice and friendly. they are there 24h asking how are you and showing amazing hospitality. We used it as a b&b. sleep eat and go for the day. the... More

I am a solo American female traveler who stayed at Cheers for 6 nights during my only week of vacation this year (I'm a medical student.... so it goes.) Cheers is one of the friendliest and homiest hostels I've ever visited! The staff are very personable and are knowledgeable about local sites and stuff to do. They are eager to... More

The staff are so good that they knew who I was by the time I even arrived.. I rocked up at 1.30am in the morning to Sinan greeting me at the entrance with my name saying he's been waiting! Check in was so fast and he left all the dribble till the next morning when j was refreshed after a... More

A friend and I shared a private room a couple blocks away from the main hostel building, but we still felt part of the Cheers family when we'd come to the bar in the evening. The bar space and staff make it conducive for hanging out to meet other guests and have a good time. The bartender during our stay,... More

I've stayed at Cheers twice so far, four years apart, and it never ceases to amaze me how great this hostel is. The staff even remembered my wife and I after four years and as always, they were the friendliest and most helpful of any place we've stayed in the world. And we've traveled all over, staying in lodgings that... More

My friend and I travelled to Istanbul earlier this month, and our experience at Cheers added to it being one of my best trips yet. The staff, particularly Sinan, Ahmed and Olga, were simply wonderful - accommodating, helpful, friendly and efficient. The presence of a hostel dog simply added to the wonderful atmosphere. It was such a treat eating breakfast... More

I stayed here as a solo traveller and had a great time. The hostel itself has about the best location possible, right in the old city (the rooftop bar has a stunning view of the Aya Sofya, one of the main attractions in the whole city) but in a place which is quiet at night so you can get a... Cheers was conveniently located near Aya Sofia, Topkapi Palace, and the Blue Mosque. Just a few of the locations my group was most interested in seeing. They have a great balcony with a full bar and a stunning view of Aya Sofia, especially at night! The staff were very friendly and helpful, providing tips on great tea shops, hookah spots,... More

I happened across Cheers by accident while exploring the old city around Hagia Sofia .. I stopped in for tea and was made very welcome .. Olga from Cheers and the hotel dog Zaman kept me company and I was shown around the place .. Looked nice especially the roof bar overlooking the museum .. Olga helped me with so... More

So happy with our stay at Cheers Hostel. Out ever need was tended to. Remembering my name and always asking if we needed anything else. Room was comfortable and the little details, free towel, hair dryer, etc. wifi worked anywhere in the hostel. And amazing view of the mosque from the terrace bar. Loving the hostel golden retriever. It was... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
