If you are looking for a swanky, posh hotel look elsewhere, and be prepared to pay more money. The Aleph is an older style hotel that is bit by bit upgrading and making solid improvements. We booked the Aleph though Airbnb, initial booking problems all sorted out by staff quickly and efficiently. Room good, great shower and very comfortable bed,... More

This hotel has a great location and lots of promise. The owners promise to change decor and upgrade rooms...all in need. We found this place to be grotty, but the location and view from the roof hooked us. The breakfast totally sucked. But, the front desk staff was good and the middle-of-the-night assistance with an airport taxi that was late... More

I believe we do know that the "renovation" is a "progress" which needs income for small properties like this one you stayed over only about 20 Euros in the center of this historical city like many people did with no complain and without sucking all the coffee just for it's free. In Istanbul, staying in Aleph is going to cost... More

The rooms were on the small side. The bathrooms don't have ventilation and can get smelly and humid, so you need to leave the door open. The AC was sketchy. WiFi was good enough. No elevator! Rooms were clean, tidy, and up to date. The staff was not at the reception half of the time. I called and asked if... More

Dear Sir / Madam You are completely right about the technical problems like shower humidity and the air-conditioner. And the only excuse of ours is we just need a little more time to get rid of technical & financial difficulties. We'll soon fix them all and serve way better. About the reception and the TV channels: I already shared your... More

Only a few minutes walk from the Blue Mosque, we stayed as a family of 4 and had two adjoining rooms each with its own bathroom, fridge, kettle and air con. The breakfast was good and the WiFi was really fast. Staff were extremely helpful especially when our luggage failed to turn up until the morning we were due to... More

It has a good location close to Blue Mosque on a quiet street. Nice rooms with a good double bed. Bank cards accepted. They have an Intersting design for the rooms and whole hotel. Helpful personal ready to answer all the questions.

Me and 3 friends stayed at this hotel. We rented 2 rooms and they were kind of connected. So far so good. But we had some problems of air conditioning in one the rooms, that were not solved, and at night it got a little bit hot inside the room. We had another problem with the staff, we arrived a... My boyfriend and I were booked at this hotel for four nights. When we arrived at the hotel at around 1:30 A.M. (our flight landed in Istanbul at midnight), we were told by the receptionist that the hotel was overbooked for our first two nights and we would be moved to another hotel. The receptionist refused to give any information... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
