Stayed there 24-26/Aug/2013, there are my reasons not to go there: Staffs are not helpfull, especially the manager (Cocky and very arrogant!!). Rooms are very tiny (Sardine boxes!!), what make it worse, they charged me 20 Euro per night for my 6-years old kid when their room doesn’t have a space for an extra bed, we had no space to... More

After a bad experience at another hotel, booking.com sent me to City Hotel. The hotel is very nice and clean and Mr.Ramazan, a very nice person from management make you feel welcome. I kindly recommend this hotel as a city hotel.

We were sent to this hotel after the City Port Hotel lied to us that our reservation through booking.com was not confirmed as allegedly the credit card was not OK. We were offered the City Hotel instead for the same price (as the owner is the same) and we accepted. The City Hotel is in Aksaray, which is NOT a... More

This hotel Is situated in aksaroy not sultanahmet as travel republic say. It's in the middle of a at full of shops Ellington car parts. The room is basic with no tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel is situated in Aksaray, an area which is not so close to taxim (20 min. by bus if there is no traffic jam). There are only some small markets close to the hotel. You are not allowed to bring any food in the room and also the refrigerators in the rooms are out of order. Most of the... More

My family spent five nights at the city hotel. the rooms are spacious, clean and have all the amenities including a jacuzzi bath. Staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. Food is good. we really enjoyed it and would recommend to all. It is close to to all public transport and easy access to all the sights.

Staying in Fener & Balat

Neighborhood Profile
Fener & Balat
This sleepy and rather socially conservative area of Istanbul hosts a small but thriving Jewish community, the patriarchate of the Eastern Orthodox Church, and some of the most beautiful churches and Christian art in the world. Much of what’s most interesting to witness in Fener and Balat sits between the surviving ancient city walls of Constantinople and the serene shores of the Golden Horn. Despite the many splendid sights, historic attractions, stunning vistas, and warm Turkish welcome, the area remains largely unperturbed by the tourist trade that characterizes the atmosphere in nearby Sultanahmet and around the Grand Bazaar. Travelers that like to explore off the beaten track will reap big rewards for making the effort to visit this low-key part of town.
