We loved our stay at The House Hotel. Upon arrival, we got a small room upgrade, as the manager thought we would be more comfortable. It is a beautifully-designed hotel in an interesting and lively area of Istanbul. Breakfast on the top floor was always a delight, and the staff all very helpful.

I stayed at the House Hotel in Galatasaray for 5 days in August 2015. The location is ideal -- a bit removed from the crowds and the buzzle, yet not too far away from getting to places in the city. The staff were very, very helpful and friendly. They made up for any issues that I encountered both in and... More

The House Hotel Galatasaray was located in Beyoglu district. Although the hotel was close to the old town ( 20 minutes walk) and Taksim Square (10 minutes walk) I didn't like the street where the hotel was located. The hotel was occupying a recently renovated beautiful historic building dating to 1890's. The reception was cool. I haven't had an upgrade... More

This is not your typical big chain hotel. Nothing to rave about from the outside but you can sense there's something classy as you walk into the foyer towards the small reception with a nice fresh aroma. There were only 2 receptionists on duty (night and day) who were both equally nice and helpful with advice. We opted for a... More

This hotel is in a great location with many top restaurants and bars in close proximity. It also has a nice local feel. We were very happy with our choice after being quite overwhelmed by the choice of hotels in Istanbul. Rooms are gorgeous and stylish, very comfortable and had all we needed. Breakfasts on the top floor were delicious... More

We had a wonderful 3 day stay here in July. Would highly recommend this beautiful hotel and absolutely loved the area it was in, with lots of cool vintage, antique and designer homeware and fashion shops. A real gem and , as always, Istanbul is magical!

The hotel felt like I was actually living in Istanbul however we booked the penthouse and when we arrived the airconditioning was not working and it was very hot that night and we were on the top floor of a 5 story walkup. They tryed to fix it but it was the weekend they could not and since the hotel... More

I really enjoyed my 4 night stay here, and I was so glad that I was staying over in Galata rather than in the more central but touristy Sultanahmet district. It meant I was a bit further from the major sights, but it gave me a reason to explore the area near the hotel which I might not have done... More

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighborhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
