We stayed at the Raymond Hotel for 1 week to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday. We were a group of 7 people between the ages of 19 and 80 and occupied 4 rooms. The rooms are super clean but small which is expected if you stay in this area. The 2 double rooms on the 5th floor are bigger but... More

Me and my husband stayed here for 5 nights from 29.06.2015 until 4.07.2015. We were pleased about the location(very close to many of the historical attractions, only around 70 meters away from Gulhane tram station, Gulhane Park, around 300 meters away from Ayasofia, Topkapi Palace, Sultanahmet Camii). The hotel was nice and the room was clean, although not very big,... More

The location is great, you can go walking to all the main Istambul sites. All the staff is very kind and helpful, they even helped us in an argument with a taki driver. Food is very good. Rooms are not very big, but very clean. They are lovely with kids.

Warning - Be very Careful – this hotel has very good reviews but be careful with your booking as they may just cancel and leave you stranded. I booked this hotel through booking.com and was sure all is fine, as I had received confirmation etc. Two weeks later they sent an email to say you have 24 hrs to reconfirm... More

We spend our 3 nights at the Raymond Hotel in Istanbul. The location is just perfect, in a little street only 2-3 minutes walk away from the Haiga Sofia and the Blue Mosque. The tram station is directly at the end of the street. The personnel was very friendly and really tried to make our stay a good as possible... More

We picked the Raymond Hotel based on a friend's recommendation. Overall, I was pretty happy with it. The location can't be beat. All the major attractions in Istanbul are within a 5-10 minute walk (Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Ayasofia, Spice Market, Grand Bazaar). The breakfast was also top notch. A great selection of cheeses, cold cuts and hot dishes. You... More

Surrounded by restaurants, the main landmarks and at a minute walking distance to the tram station of Gulhane. This tram station takes you to grand bazaar and aksaray etc. from one side and towards new istanbul accross the galata bridge from the other side. Topkapi, Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern are all needless of a tram but you better... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
