Probably the closest we will get to experiencing famous Turkish hospitality. This is newly acquired family owned hotel. And much of our enjoyment of Istanbul is credited to Omar, who was amazing! We had the Sea View with a nice balcony. This hotel is very close to the Blue Mosque and other locations - so great for walking. Each afternoon.... More

Cheaper than other hotels and awesome location close to the Hippodrome, but that's pretty much it. I stayed in two different rooms and they were both noisy and filthy. Obviously housekeeping staff doesn't care too much about customers. Wi-fi signal was quite weak.

The hotel is conveniently located in Sultanhamet at 5-10 min walk from Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia with restaurants, shops, and travel agencies nearby. The neighborhood might be scary but is completely safe. Art City Hotel was obtained by merging two old buildings which were once condos/apartments, and incorporates former Tulip House Hotel. I reserved a "standard" room through a... More

We were three people – me, my friend and her 7-year-old kid. When booking a room I told this and that we need a double room with an extra bed or a three person room. What we got was a tiny double room with no extra bed. First they claimed we had booked a double room. I showed them my... More

Day 1: The aircon in the lobby is not working and to my surprise the aircon in my room is not working as well. And the weather is very hot as it is summer. The manager said they will send a technician and I kept on following up and they didn't fix it. Only an electric fan was sent. Day... More

Dirty sheets and super old building and furniture were the first thing that welcomed us. The sheets were dirty two times and were changed for other ones as dirty as the old ones. The room was super old and very small. We upgraded to a see view thinking it could be better, but it's not. The see view is very... More

This hotel was nice for the price. It has a lovely classic feel and the staff was nice. We had a triple room that was adequate, but a little small. The breakfast was included and delicious. There was wifi in the room, but it was spotty. Close to the trolley line, the Blue Mosque, and other Sultanahmet attractions. We were... More

We have rented a room for a few days based on reviews we had read, but were very disappointed overall. The first night, our room was not available so they asked us to stay at a hotel they own next door. Then we had to move the next day. They said our luggage was going to be tranferred to the... More

Art city hotel has a great location and the rooms are clean. They vary in size and so do the bathrooms. The breakfast is good but otherwise the hotel is nothing special. The hotel did not respond to any emails or calls so we were not met at the airport as promised online.

Location is 5-7 minutes from Ajay Sofia-Sultan Ahmed mosque. Very friendly personal, clean rooms and new towels every day. Very nice view from the top terrace on the Bosporus. The best is to walk upstairs instead of taking the elevator after the breakfast which is so good you do not need to take a lunch. Free WiFi.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
