For a couple on a budget it's perfect, affordable, great location only a minute walk from Hagia Sophia and the tram line so you can get public transport from the airport. The room was fine, staff friendly and a lovely breakfast every morning to set you up for the day.

My companion, David, and I stayed at Hotel Han for 8 nights at the end of May. The rooms are adequate with a good Turkish breakfast and excellent location. The manager could not be more charming and helpful. There was an unfortunate incident at the end of our stay, which I have recorded elsewhere. Overall, our stay here could not... More

This is my second stay at Hotel Han. The hotel could not be better located. It is central and close to everything. The staff are friendly and the service is excellent. The rooms are tired and could do with some updating. However, I love this hotel and will stay there again.

We stayed at Hotel Han for a week in October 2014. Excellent location and very friendly managers and staff! They were very helpful and Roberto made us laugh every day! This hotel felt like home, it was like we were part of the family! The restaurant, the Barbeque House serves lovely food! We enjoyed every meal! Thank-you Hotel Han for... More

Friendly staff and a very good, very genuine home-style Turkish breakfast with excellent fresh coffee collude with an exceptional location just meters aways from Hagia Sophia and the Cisterns for what could ... or should be an exceptional small hotel. I stayed at the Han Hotel for 10 days about 2 years earlier and enjoyed this great, cosy spot in... More

Of course you can find better hotel in Istanbul. But from the point of budget, vacations in Hotel Han is great value. Hagia Sophia is quite near, also Blue Mosk and many more sights. Room are mostly small but enough to stay comfortable. WC and bath with all facilities are clean and warm. Rooms cleaned every day with total change... More

I have a very mixed filings about our stay. First thing I need to say that the location is outstanding and stuff is great. In the very hear of Sultanahmet, less than 5 minutes to the trolley and major attractions. I felt really safe coming back home late at night. The hotel has an excellent restaurant on the first floor.... More

The location, the beautiful staff and the atmosphere of the hotel made our stay quite extraordinary. The caring and sympathetic staff helped us right from the beginning in the task of finding the island Grandmother had been as a young woman in 1905. They were helpful in all other matters we asked them, or wanted them to take care of.... More

The twin room we had was smaller than expected but the hotel is in such a great location so we barely spent any time there and it met our needs. Clean and nice decor, also a fridge in the room. Breakfast was lovely and a good spread, we did not need lunch! (Maybe just a mid-afternoon Turkish pastry!). There is... More

First of all, this is the smallest room I've ever stayed in, at a hotel. Despite that, there's still a good touch to it. Clean room, good people, great location...breakfast dish is mad boring, same plate of food every morning. Pretty central spot within Sultanahmet, which makes it ideal for those that want to easily access most parts of the... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
