The hotel was easy to find and within walking distance from the Sultanahmet tram stop coming in from the airport. On arrival the check-in was quick, welcoming and friendly. I asked for a room on the second floor with a view of the mosque and the sea and they immediately moved my reservation for my choice of room without a... More

Safe neighbourhood to walk after dark. Lots of restaurants in the area and close to the main tourist area surrounding the Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque etc. Great value for money and staff are very helpful!

This is a lovely hotel for those who want to be near all the main sites of interest. It's a 5 min or less, very straightforward walk to Hippodrome and Sultanahmet Mosque. When we arrived the staff were very efficient at checking us in and giving all the relevant and important information. As we arrived fairly late at night, one... More

A lovely friendly hotel close to most Sultanahmet attractions, restaurants and shopping. Our room was too small, but as we did not complain about this we didn't give the hotel a chance to correct this. An excellent breakfast and a lift!

The room and bathroom they gave us was a bit small, especially because you couldn’t walk around the sides of the bed and we had nowhere to put the suitcases. We asked the porter if they had anything else available and they gave us a much larger room without any hassle. They were really nice the whole time we were... More

The Dara is in a great position with an easy walk to hippodrome, blue mosque and grand bazaar. Room was quite small and a fully enclosed bathroom - no window - and an inadequate but noisy extraction fan. Soundproofing was not adequate - the double glazing did diminish the calls to prayer from the mosque across the street but we... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
