This was our second stay at the Sphendon in two years. The location is ideal for the local markets and major sites such as the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. It is also within walking distance to the Grand Bazaar, Spice Market and Galata Bridge. If you enjoy wandering local streets and eating at restaurants off the main tourist track,... More

Everything about our experience here was perfect. We got in late, but the hotel owner, Malik, was waiting for us to arrive. When we got there, he immediately offered us turkish tea or coffee and then pulled out some maps of the city and brochures for various attractions and gave us a great overview of things to do and things... Great location, beautiful patio and nice breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff. Very close to all the tourist sights but on a quieter back street so it's not loud and crowded. Excellent choice if you want to be near to the main sights in Istanbul.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. It is a short walk from the Blue Mosque, Hafia Sofia, the Grande Bazaar and Topaki Palace. The rooms are small but clean. Breakfast consists of cucumber, tomatoes, eggs and cheeses with bread. Sufficient but not fancy. Malik Çelebi was helpful.

Easily move to Old town and seaside. Hotel's service was great - nice welcome, perfect English, great breakfast, clean room, sea-view top-roof which I enjoyed night view with beer... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
