Staff were helpful and welcoming, particularly Bob. Room was clean and a decent size. Rooftop patio offers a great view of the Bosphorus. Great location with just a quick walk to Sultanahmet park! Would stay again

A clean, comfortable room with a view of the Bosphorus! While nothing special in term of decor, the room was very nice and spacious with a bath en suite. Breakfast was generous in a space with an open terrace, free wi fi, and comfortable seating for rainy afternoons. The guesthouse is situated in Old Town which means very easy walking... More

The Agora Guesthouse is a lovely hostel with an amazing rooftop terrace that has a BYOB policy which guests can enjoy until midnight. The views are spectacular and the services lovely. We sprung for the double room at a great price which was definitely a good call. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Even approaching high season, we were each able to pay less than $20 per night to stay in a private room. The place is welcoming, spotless, and the bathrooms are clean and spacious. The best feature may be the rooftop garden and breakfast patio, which has a view over the Bosphorus. The wi-fi is excellent and the breakfast is delicious.... More

Great hostel in Sultanahmet. Staff was courteous, rooms were clean, beds were comfy. Overall good experience. Seemed to be very popular with asian tourists. Considering it is in the most touristy part of town, I'd recommend skipping the nearby restaurants and venture a bit further for more authentic and cheaper food :)

Stayed here with my sister. While my sister was hesitant as they only had space in the mixed dorms, her worries were laid to rest once we checked in. Not only were the beds comfortable but the bathrooms were super clean. They have seperate shower cubicles and multiples sinks. The location of the hostel is superb- bang in the Sultanhamet... More

This place is the best! It is around the corner from all of the historical sites of Istanbul that you want to see! It was comfortable, clean and safe. There is a beautiful rooftop terrace view and I met other friendly guests who were also staying there. The concierges were extremely helpful. I had the best time in Istanbul thanks... More

After wandering around the Sultanahamet area (read the directions on the info sheet they send you!) we were happy to be greeted by 'Bob' at the front desk, who was an excellent and fun host. We really enjoyed our four nights here-- clean facility, good breakfast, safe, awesome rooftop terrace, friendly and helpful staff, and a very good location for... More

Agora Guesthouse is an awesome hostel in the historic section of Istanbul. It's conveniently located to all of the top sights (Aya Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern), but feels comfortable and cozy. The staff is helpful and incredibly accommodating, always willing to help! I'd highly recommend staying here!

You absolutely can’t beat the location of the Agora Guest House in Sultanahmet, Istanbul’s old city. You are a five-minute walk to the major sights, including the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace, as well as to connect to public transport to get around the city. The staff are always helpful and friendly and they have the best breakfast... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
