Memo and the team were really welcoming and helpful, we had 8 days in Turkey and had not made any plans but somehow wanted to squeeze in seeing Istanbul, go ballooning in Cappadocia and see the pools at Pammukale. With these parameters to work with, Memo arranged and booked a tour for us including transfers to/from accommodation and once on... More

From Jay meeting me out front when my shuttle dropped me off, to Merve's bubbling warmth and Mehmet's flawless moustache, Second Home Hostel lived up to its name. The location and price speaks for itself, hard to beat in Istanbul; but the intangible element, the feeling of friendship, comfort, and safety added a special something to my stay. I tend... More

Very welcoming staff, friendly and cozy atmosphere ! They serve breakfast in common room where you can meet other travelers, listen music ( they've great music lists ) and get tips around the city. Rooftop terrace is just amazing, get your drink have a shisha and chill out in the evening. You can also trust their advices and book Turkish... More

We walked into second home hostel to inquire about tour prices to Cappadocia and Pammukale. We only went in to get an idea about prices and ended up booking a four day package with Memo who was incredibly honest and helpful even though we did not stay at Second home. All the staff at the hostel, Memo and Merve in... More

Stayed in a room for three days in my way through Istanbul. Conveniently located all the major sites were within an easy walk. But the best part of the hotel was the service - Merve and Memo were exceptionally friendly and helpful and always available for questions and booking. It was a great stay

This hostel has a great vibe with really friendly staff who do their best to make your stay enjoyable. The hostel rooftop is perfect for socialising with other guests and unwinding after visiting all the major tourist sites which are within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this hostel for anyone wanting to make the best of their stay in... More

The solo female traveler is by far the creature with the most things/eventualities to consider and plan - the Second Home Hostel made me feel right at home. This was my first time in Istanbul. If you are looking for a clean place that is near to the main tourist attractions and is reasonably priced this is where you should... More

Between myself, some friends and my brother we stayed at Second Home three times through-out June '15. It is very comfortable, has a beautiful rooftop and the most amazingly accommodating hosts! All staff were very helpful and also very fun. I had the best time going out dancing with Merve, she made me feel right at home in her city.... More

Second Home is in a great location and provided everything I needed while traveling. They really made my trip to Istanbul perfect! Memo and Merve were incredible! They showed me all the best places to go, helped me get there, and are really fun to hang with! They both know so much about Istanbul (and the rest of Turkey) so... More

A very nice hostel that makes you feel like home. I stayed at a 2 or 3 bed dorm but I had the room all by myself , real lucky to enjoy the whole room by myself :) The staff is so friendly especially the female one. She invited me to go to a party with the rest of the... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
