First, the location is quite ideal as the hotel is located in the Sultanahmet area within 5 minute walking distance to the tram, the Blue Mosque, and the Hagia Sophia. And its roof is perfectly situation to provide views over the sea while you enjoy the complementary breakfast. I would recommend going up to the roof in the evening as... More

We read mixed review of this hotel, but went ahead with it - Clean basic room comfortable bed, a double bed, gray worn out towel but clean, 501 facing East with direct access to roof top sitting, stairs are narrow and steep, no elevator. Excellent wifi, water pressure, excellent staff - everyone, basic breakfast but good - terrible coffee like... More

Found Grand Peninsula in Lonely Planet and we were not disappointed! You cannot beat the location of this hotel; in the Sultanahmet area just below the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofya. 5 minute access to the tram for getting to other places, including the airport. Sapo, Ahmet, and Ramazan are the hosts and are all prompt with email responses when... More

The breakfast on the roof - was very relaxing with the nice view over the houses and the sea. The staff was very helful for example in organising a visit to... More

The Grand Peninsula has a friendly and helpful staff; they made our stay there a positive experience. The room was neat and clean. The location is perfect for walking to many important sites like the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, and Topkapi Palace in addition to restaurants, grocery shops, and shopping venues. Breakfast is tasty with a variety of foods to... More

We spent only one night on a long layover. Grand Peninsula was recommended to us by a friend. Price was very reasonable ($120/3 people, 1 room, single beds) but this was during slow season. Location is ideal - 20-30 min from the airport and in the heart of the Sultanahmet district. Istanbul's top sights are within short walking distance (Blue... More

Great location, staff, breakfast and a very reasonable price for Istanbul. We were impressed with how helpful everyone was and really enjoyed the time there. Can't say enough about the wonderful breakfast.

The great thing about this hotel is its location within the Sultanhamet area. Haghia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque and the Basilica Cistern can all be reached within 10 minutes (walking). The hotel itself is nice, quite clean but very basic. The staff is helpful and the buffet breakfast is satisfactory. There is no lift to reach the upper... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
