I hope we hit them on a bad week but definitely a bad experience that did not need to be. Did not clean rooms, which meant we ran out of toilet paper. did make time come into room to "measure sink" while we were napping. Smell from painting? so bad that we could not stay in rooms in different floors.... More

The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The hotel staff was always eager to answer questions and get us anything that we needed. The location was wonderful. It was close to shopping, lots of nice restaurants, and of many of the sights we wanted to see

Nice hotel, but not for those expecting a 5 star experience. Clean, convenient, nice staff. As with the rest of Istanbul, the tap water is not potable, but there are many small shops that sell bottled water nearby, and a few restaurants as well. I would stay here again

The hotel has a fabulous location, being exactly a minute away from the tram station and short walking distance to the Topakpi Palace, Archeological Museum, Gulhane Park (5 min), Blue Mosque/Aya Sofya (10-12 mins). The rooms though nothing fancy, were decent and quite adequate, but don't go expecting a view. However, it is on a quiet street in a busy... More

This place was brilliant. Not the fanciest hotel in Istanbul but it is down the hill from the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. 2 minutes walk to the tram, 10 minutes walk to the Spice Market, right near some of the main food areas and shopping streets in Istanbul. The staff are what makes this place incredible. The reception staff... More

Nice hotel room, only small drawback is shower is on the smaller side. Staff was terrific. Turkish bath and spa located downstairs. Awesome rooftop terrace for a drink. Very centrally located in European side with easy walking access, tons of restaurants and shops. Very happy with our visit here.

Yes, Sirkeci is not an upscale neighborhood.... Not yet. But this is a neighborhood in transition to a good place. Lots of new hotels and restaurants. Gulhane is lucky to be in the middle of this change and in a great location! Just steps away from the Tram that takes you just 1 or 2 stops to be in the... More

The hotel is in great location as it is in walking distance from all the major attractions. Staff is very helpful and attentive. They were able to suggest places to visit and see and how to get there. Breakfast was great and they provided with a variety of options. The hotel is nice and clean and even has a spa.... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
