I booked a private room at World House Hostel, although I should’ve just paid a bit more for a room in a standard hotel. The room provided was basic, with a tiny bathroom. While I was there (for 3 nights) the room was not cleaned at all. The hostel is a bit loud (from street noise), but earplugs helped. The... More

Had a wonderful time in Istanbul with world house. It has a great location in Istanbul, - the best if you ask me. In walking distance to everywhere. Right on isitdakal st - always busy with people walking up to Takisim and down through Galata to get to saltanamet. You could walk one way over to the blue mosque in... More

Perfect position to stay! Practically under Galata tower! I was a little bit sceptic, But believe me it worth! The rooms are very ok, the baths also (a little bit small)- but really are you born in Monaco?! You are travelling so it is perfect for that! And very clean! The breakfast is more that ok! The people at the reception... More

I got a single room at World House and was amazed that I could sit in the window and see the Aya Sofia! I was on the 3rd floor so there was really minimal noise from the street but at the same time I could hear lovely music from the restaurants below. The staff were SO helpful and friendly answering... During our stay at the World House Hostel, my partner and I stayed in two rooms. The first room was an 8 room dorm. Although some noise could be heard from the street, the main sleep distrburances was from other room mates (which is to be expected of a large dorm room). On our last night within this room, the... This is easily one of the best hostels I've stayed in. The location is impossible to beat: i the heart of Beyoglu, on the narrow, steep Galipede, in the shadow of the Galata Tower, a few minutes from Istiklal. The rooms are spacious, with decent beds, and they are being kept clean all the time. Turkish breakfast is included, and... More

Landed in Istanbul after 15 hours in flight and found our way to this excellent place in the Beyoglu district. They gave us a lovely little apartment room right outside the Gelata tower (so we'd always know how to find it :D) and it became our Istanbul home base. The staff was incredibly sweet and helpful, the breakfast fresh and... More

I stayed in the individual apartments that are attached to the hostel. Both are super clean and in the best location you could wish for! I have stayed in a few areas in Istanbul, but this was definitely the best - close to the old town (for sightseeing) and trendy Taksim (for nightlife & shopping). The staff are super friendly... We stayed in the 14 bed dorm for the first 3 nights and 8 bed dorm on the final night - both of which were clean and safe. The rooms came with lockers for bags and valuables but regardless of this we met some amazing people on our trip and would definitely recommend it. The staff were extremely friendly and... More

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighborhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
