Came here last year as a backpacker looking for a cheap place to stay in central istanbul (which is no easy feat, especially without internet!). The room i got was great value, the bed was comfortable and the room was en-suite, though the bathroom wasn't clean, and the flush was broken when I stayed. Breakfast was included (albeit basic) on... More

In the last year I've stayed in over 50 hostels and this was in the bottom two - dirty, cramped room, unfriendly staff and unbeatable breakfast. For either the same price or just a little more, you could definitely find something better!

If you are expecting a minimum luxury you won't find it. Rooms are basic but clean. The breakfast is very basic and adequate - in fact this is the poorest breakfast I eaver had. However since the location is really nice and the guy at reception was good I am going to give a rating of 3 for this hostel.

We stayed in this hostel for a night, in a double room with a shared bathroom, after we had left a terrible 'hotel' we had booked. Even though it was late and we were desperate to find a place to stay, the manager gave us a very good price. The room was extremely basic but clean, the shared bathroom was... More

This cute little hostel is a hidden gem. The rooms are spacious and there is sir conditioning. The cleanliness could have been a little better but nothing beat the breakfast with a view of the Bosphorus Sea. There were many stairs to climb so beware anyone with leg problems. I stayed during Ramadan so there was a great deal of... More

I was charged 100t/l and it was the worst place I ever stayed in and my room was ensuite so God help the rest. It had two single beds, no chair, wardrobe and that was it. The rug was not hoovered and I did not dare look under the bed. The beds were uncomfortable. It was right behind reception and... More

It was expensive. It was terribly conditioned. It was unclean. Combined above, it was not a good place for one expects more even for a backpacker. The only good thing was, it was so close to the Blue Mosque!

Stayed at Sinbad hostel twice - 2006 and 2007. Rooms weren't nice, simple 6 bed dormitory with almost no equipment. Bathroom was in terrible condition, only cold water. OK, now some warm words... hostel is situated in perfect location, just a few steps from Blue Mosque. Althought conditions weren't good at all, I must say I quite like my stay... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
