I stayed at the Sultan Hostel for a few nights in October of 2014. It was a very clean hostel which I appreciated. However, it seemed more like a bar that also had a hostel. The music and patrons in the bar were very loud late into the night. The hostel lacked a lounge for the hostel guests that was... More

I love Istanbul and have been there for already 3 times. I adore strolling through Istanbul's streets, buying all sorts of nice things, my favorite deals are drinking tea, eating turkish sweets in small and cozy cafes, smoking nargile and just chilling out not paying attention to a quite active pace of Istanbul life. All of them are the main... More

Great location, very short walk to the Topikopi, Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque, etc. The staff were friendly and the free breakfast was ok. There was only one key to the room which we found a bit strange but you get used to it. We were in a 10 bed dorm which was actually quite clean, the ensuite was good,... More

Our stay at the Sultan was our first stop on a 5 month trip through Europe. Although the hostel is a little dated in some aspects, it has everything you need and the staff are really fantastic. During our first night (we had a private room shared bathroom) the air con kept turning itself on and off, leaving the room... More

I would recommend this hotel for both backpackers and even families staying on a low budget. They have private rooms and dorms so there are people from different ages staying there. However, it can get loud at night if you are in one of the lower floors. The bar has a good vibe, breakfast is okay and wifi works fine.... More

We stayed in Sultan Hostel for 3 nights as a couple travelling on low budget. Everything was OK and the location is perfect, however we had some problems to find it at first (don't forget to check it on GoogleMaps! :-). The staff is very friendly as it's the whole atmosphere in the hostel. The rooms are pretty small; just... More

Funky place on the main drag in this part of Istanbul. We didn't stay here, but had a number of drinks "after hours" (ours, not theirs- they are open as long as you want them to be!) well looked after the lovely Zaza. Like most of the people here- he worked long hours with no complaint. It was lovely to... More

The hostel is part of a pub on a charming, trendy cobblestone street close to some of Istanbul’s most iconic sites (Topikopi, Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque, etc.). Because of the pub downstairs, the noise-level may be a little higher than some people are used to, but the bustle is little more than a hum in the dorm rooms, unlikely... More

Stayed in a 6 bed dorm with 5 of my friends and we had a wonderful time. Great location, close to many sight seeing destinations and restaurants and it is great how the guests can relax in the restaurant/ bar area. Clean and simple spaces, just what the young or solo traveler needs.

I have stayed in many cheapish hotels in the Sirkeci area of İstanbul, but this one definitely wins the prize for the worst. Although the position was great, as far as it was easy to get around from there, it was very noisy. When staying in a cheap hotel I don't expect the Ritz, but I do expect cleanliness. The... More
