I booked a hand-picked tour of Turkey and couldn't have done everything that I wanted to do without Melahat's help. She was very helpful and patient, and replied to emails instantly. We had many other travel agents and tour companies tell us that we couldn't do the locations in Turkey that we wanted to do, and Melahat helped us to... More

Tripadvisor helped me in choosing this boutique hotel. The location so close to all city attractions was a great plus. The front desk manned by Harun and Yousuf was very helpful in guiding me on using public transportation. Rooms facing the sea could be noisy but rooms facing city tend to be quieter. Bathroom was spotless, hot water supply was... More

We have been travelling for 6 weeks ,our daughter joined us for a few nights and our stay here was extremely good. The location is central, many restaurants to choose from to eat at night. Near to all the historic sites. The view from the Terrace over the Sea of Marmara at breakfast was perfect. The breakfast choice caters for... More

I spent 8 nights at Saruhan hotel and I was very pleased. It is just a little away from the main touristic area, makes this hotel a perfect location. The neighbourhood is quiet and there is a real community with its nice park, shops and houses. Yet, it is an walkable distance from the Blue Mosque and other sights; there... More

This will sound strange, but we stayed here five years ago and absolutely hated it. We knew back then the Saruhan hotel had a good reputation, and the hotel itself was actually fine, but there was heavy construction work going on next door which had made it intolerable to be in the hotel during the day time. So if I... More

The Saruhan is an outstanding value, considering both its price and location. It really is an easy walk from all of the sites in SULTANAHMET and the views from the terrace are very nice. The rooms are just OK, but breakfast is fantastic. I've had worse food at places that cost 3X. The service is friendly and personable, too. I... More

We had a very nice 3 day stay here. The location is super, very close to the big ticket items of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, although admittedly they are uphill from the hotel. The room was spacious and very comfortable, the included breakfast was large and very good (if you get tired of the selection you can also... More

Nice decor and comfortable beds, friendly and helpful reception staff, and reasonable location although quite a walk to the sights. Good wifi. Adequate breakfast, although they ran out eggs the first morning.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
