Comfortable, beautiful, clean bedroom. Good position in Sultanhamet. The staff was very kind explaining the main points of interests for a tourist and showing them on the map. There's FREE COFFE in the hotel hall. Mind the seagulls while having breakfast on the terrace: if you leave the table for a second they immediately fly on it and steal food... More

I travel alone and finding a place in which the ambience and people leave me feeling welcomed and warm are rare.Saruhan, especially Harun on behalf of the hotel, do such a good job of it. All you ladies looking to travel alone, look no further. This hotel stands up to my standards (and they are pretty high) on comfort, location,... More

Visit with a family. 2 adults, 10/8/2. Note: Visa @30per person. Overnight stay in Turkey, cheaper to stay at airport with family. $22 euro transfer to hotel. Took 45 minutes to get to hotel. Took 25 Minutes to get back. Driver doesn't speak English. Hotel is located close to the center, whereas you can walk to many of the top... More

We've been staying at Saruhan for 5 nights, with our 2 boys of 8 and 10 years old in a family room (1 double and 1 bunk), with rear view on the top floor. Very quiet room for Istanbul (we don't hear so much the prayers with windows closed). Very clean, good bathroom and AC. A small balcony gives us... More

Saruhan is a lovely, peaceful hotel which is a nice escape from the main tourist drag. We were not disturbed by noise other than the sea birds and calls to prayer. Rooms on either sea side or town side are nice, and don't worry which you have as the roof top (breakfast) has a great view of both. Rooms are... More

Excellent budget-saver. Upper floors have excellent views of Bosporus (in front) or "exotic" Istanbul rooftop neighborhood to the back. Located 3 minutes walk from "Little Sophia" Mosque. And about 15 minutes' walk up the hill to all the famous spots. Great local restaurants, cafes, shops all within very short walks. Mornings the place puts out a great, huge breakfast served... More

I don't believe that the Hotel Saruhan really needs another raving review, but here goes. We stayed a week. felt like we were finally home after some travel in the EU. The beds were not great, the bathrooms and the rooms were. We stayed in two rooms during our visit. Both large, the second one a seperate suite from the... More

Our stay here was an amazing experience. From the first moment I felt I came to a welcoming, amazing place where everyone is friendly and tries to accommodate my family the best possible way. Hotel is in a quiet, old neighborhood in Old Town - Sultanahmet district, minutes away from the Sultanahmet Mosque (Blue Mosque), Hagia Sofya Museum, Topkapi Palace,... More

What a joy it was to stay at this small family run hotel, great sized room, comfortable beds. Great central heating (It was a bit chilly in Jan) We were initially there for 2 nights before going on a brilliant 9 day tour that was organised by Melahat of Shashot travel, a sister company to Saruhan. We returned to the... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
