Warmly greeted by the lovely couple the run the villa and given a tour of the small boutique hotel. Rooms are charmly decorated with antique pieces and very clean and comfortable. The location is conveniently walking distance to key sights in Sultanahmet. -S

This very small hotel on a tiny stret in Sultanahmet was a perfect place for a 3 night stay in Istanful. A very good breakfast with eggs cooked to order. The proprietor runs a tour service specializing in the Christian sites across western Turkey, and speaks decent English. They were very helpful on several occasions. Highly recommended!.

My entire family- 10 people in ages 68 to 5 - went on holiday to Istanbul and we couldn't have chosen a better hotel. The rooms are fully equipt and clean and the location is close to all the main sites but also on a small and quite street. I would like to especially mention the owner who took the... More

Very helpful hosts . Great breakfast . Great location ....easy walk to main sights in Istanbul . Decor very dated but clean and comfortable . Choose a room at back to avoid street noise . Bathroom needs a better exhaust fan .

Having stayed in other guest houses in Istanbul, this guest house stood out in many ways. It did not feel like a hotel, but more of a home-stay. Upon arrival, the host took extra time to welcome us and gave us a list of things to see and places to eat. Our room was very spacious, clean, and elegantly decorated... More

We selected Villa Sphendone for a 4 night stay and we were delighted with our choice. Our room / suite was spacious and comfortable with every amenity found in top quality hotels. Bed was very comfortable and bathroom was clean and well appointed. Breakfast was prepared to order and nothing was too much trouble. All staff were very attentive and... More

I've been lax in entering my reviews from our trip last July. We had a lovely stay at this B&B. While it does appear to be off the beaten path and in a neighborhood rather than a bigger touristy area with large hotels - don't let that fool you about the quality and service. We were traveling as a family... More

Room ambiance was great, but location (downhill) and breakfast options for the price paid were not up to par. Sites were all walking distance and decent options for food and coffee all around. It was hard for taxis to locate, but if you don't mind walking (uphill), then the tram stop was 10 minutes away.

We really enjoyed staying this wonderful boutique hotel in Sultanahmet. The rooms are large as is the bathroom. They are clean too. The staff is the highlight here. So helpful with any extra things we needed (we needed a cot and they brought one up) as well as directions and tips to see Istanbul. We actually wanted to stay longer... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
