I think it's humorous that we can review this hotel on TripAdvisor since 1) the website is blocked in Turkmenistan and 2) the hotel is owned by the government just as all the hotels in the country. The hotel's current name is Hotel Nusay (pronounced New-Sai) which is Nissa in Turkmen. Just like all the buildings in the city center,... More

The actual spelling of this hotel is Nusay. It is across the street from the Presidential Palace which means a lot of police presence and you can't walk on the street by the Palace. It is typical Ashgabat, marble and lots of glitz. Good service and breakfast. Restaurant and bar are expensive compared to non hotel meals. The beds were... More

Stayed 2 times in this hotel during my trips to Turkmenistan. Good one. I can recommend. Rooms are nice, in eastern style, food is very good, service is good. Location - exactly near President Palace, so, nice view. You can even try to make some photos outside :)

Located somehow in the center of Ashgabat, Nissa Hotel is a quite new building, with nice architecture, remembering the Greek stile. Large rooms, with internet, tv satelite and land line phone, minibar well equipped for all. Beautiful restaurant on the first floor, extended on the summer time to the internal court where is located the swimming pool. Tennis yard offer... More

Seriously, no improvements, here, since the previous visit. A hotel that has aged very poorly in a very short time, the Nusay falls short on everything but the showers and hot water. For a place that wants to attract more positive attention, support by and participation of the West, the staff does virtually nothing to make a stay more pleasant.... More

When you reach the nissa hotel you may feel a family athmosphere and try the good level Italian style cuisine at the restaurant. If you go during the good season have your dinner outside near to the swimming pool. A nice hotel in the hearth of downtown

I stayed in this grand hotel for five nights recently on a business trip, and it did most of what I would expect from a 5* hotel. There were good things: - Wifi was good and nearly free ($5 for the stay!) - Staff were very courteous and generally spoke excellent English - My room was large and comfortable -... More

Ok. This trip was one of those I'll never forget. And weirdest i ever had. But what I can say about the hotel? Hm, try to imagine 5* hotel next to presidential palace. In North Korea. Except they have money. Everything gold, marble with Turkmen motifs everywhere, including sink and bidet. Service is Ok, except they barely understand any other... More

The Nusan (Nissa) is a sort of faded-glory, former palace that seems to have deteriorated since it was built. Once probably glorious; it is now dark-cornered and damp, lots of little things wrong with the rooms and overall not the most comfortable place to reside in Ashgabat. The staff are, most all of them, exceptionally nice and helpful; but the... More

Loved my stay over-there. Stayed there for 2 nights. Enjoyed a pasta-pesto in the restaurant which was good as well. Only the breakfast buffet didn't really fit the image but that was a small dis-comfort for an overall great stay. Getting the wifi going was fairly complex but worked-out at the end.
