Stayed 2 nights before Sri Lanka tour. Great architecture, makes it cool. Fantastic attentive staff and good selection of food. Minor gripe, but nothing really, watermelon juice the only choice for breakfast, not a big fan. Highly recommended, walking distance to the beach, tuk tuk drivers on hand, honest and spoke passable English. Would stay again.

After reading the glowing reviews of earlier travelers, I was happy when my agent suggested this hotel for a 2 night stay at the end of our tour. Our room, 3, was a horrible, dark, depressing, tiny, concrete bunker. It was right next door to the kitchen, the meals area and the public areas. We could not open our curtains... More

I'm a bit worried that by sharing this review, this absolutely delightful, gracious, peaceful little architectural gem will gain in popularity!!! In the big city of Colombo, this hotel is truly a find. The owner/architect has created spaces that are functional, but also inspired, beautiful, and a delight to live in. The service is calm, smooth and whilst sometime a... More

This hotel was a wonderful stop-gap for our first couple of days in Sri Lanka. The rooms, public areas and gardens are immaculate. There's plenty of space to relax and kick back. The bedroom and en-suites were minimalistic, functional and comfortable. The shower had excellent pressure and lots of hot water (something that became a rarity further along our travels!)... More

A beautiful place to stay with the luxury of a quiet stay yet near the heart of the city! This is near the Beira lake, and that makes it a dream for early morning walkers. Though I was confused between walking around the lake or on the promenade next to Galle face (walking distance again). The rooms are nice and... More

This is a truly beautiful place to say. The staff are wonderful - very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are delightful and comfortable and the atmosphere of the entire place is just gorgeous. I have some food allergies and this too was no problem for the chef who cooked me the best Sri Lankan dinner I... More

Though not at the heart of the city, Lake Lodge is very conveniently located. Tucked away in a peaceful bye-lane, you can approach Fort, Galle Face & the shopping destinations like Odel in just 10 mins. The Lodge has been done up very artistically with lot of open areas (dining/seating/library,etc) which gives it a very rustic Sri-Lankan flavour. The food... More

We enjoyed our time here. It is fairly central but not sitting in the middle of madness that is Colombo. Our bottom level room was very clean, beds comfortable and bathroom was very nice. AC effective but a little noisy to have on all night. Staff were friendly. Mostly discreet but it didn't take much to attract their attention. We... More

A truly great experience. Very personal service. Not like the huge complexes that you often get when you want comfort in Asian cities. One of the best hotels I've ever visited. Their food, especially their curry was amazing. Highly recommended. We only were in Colombo for 48 hours and went around with taxi so don't really know about the location... More

Colombo … A city in flux, its changing before your eyes. For the urban explorer this can be a fantastic adventure, for some a nightmare. It offers the old and the new, and everything in between … Regardless, Lake Lodge is a beautiful refuge, offering comfortable accommodation, helpful and friendly staff, and amazing food! A bit of luxury among the... More
