The hotel location is fab and breakfast was lovely. But i compare to the other chaper hotel the hotel is not really different. I would not stay the hotel again if i go back to there because we have stayed better and cheaper hotel in ulanbatarr.

I was attracted to the hotel because of its very severe, Soviet era look. And it still definitely has that faded, tired look which can be quite attractive. Both outside and inside. It is however not sufficient to bring me back here again. The rooms are really very small, mine with peeling ceilings and windows and with a shortage of... More

We arrived in our very warm room to find the air conditioning didnt work. We reported it to reception who sent a cleaner who also couldnt get it to work. We waited in the room for over an hour but no more contact. We then went to reception who told us there were 4 other rooms affected. We then spoke... More

This hotel is centrally located. Amenities are nearby. Hotel is neat and clean. Rooms are quite small. Hotel is bit costly compared to facilities. One of the inconvenience is that room do not have mobile charging sockets availability, therefore they provide extension cord, wires moving across room, which is quite odd.

The location of the UB Hotel can't be beat and the hotel is continuously trying to keep up with the younger competition. Not easy with an old building, but they do a surprisingly good job with what they have to work with. The staff are very friendly and service oriented. The rooms are decent enough, although room service could be... More

We stayed here one night - midnight arrival and 9am check-out. Check-in was superfast. Our room had 2 single beds and the room smelled like old stale cigarettes. The only thing new was the TV which worked well. The room was dated, as was the rest of the hotel. We seemed to only have A/C blowing so we turned the... More

This hotel is very well located for exploring the city. It does not offer much in the way of amenities but it is classic Soviet Era stuff. Some great old photos in the hallways, worth taking a look. Room comfortable and clean, bathroom serviceable and clean, breakfast adequate with eggs cooked to order and an acceptable coffeeshop/bar on the main... More

The Ulaanbaatar hotel is a colonial style hotel, which, although in places needs a bit of repair, has a wonderful atmosphere and feel that here time moves more slowly. The rooms are very comfortable and everything worked fine, although not always the first time. The staff is very helpful and competent in a relaxed typically mongolian fashion. The breakfast is... Great location but that's it Sometimes the heater did not work (during the winter!!!!!) When I called the reception they said they can't do anything about it and got me extra blanket. And -21c degree weather it does not help much ...... don't want to go back there again ever

The Ulaanbaataar Hotel is "the first 5 Star Hotel in Mongolia." That may be so, but in 2014 it gets 3 stars at most. Peeling wallpaper, dubious plumbing, and leaky windows belie the rating. On the upside, there is something charming about this Soviet-style hotel with its heavy furnishings and sheets that don't quite fit the beds. Staff tried to... More
