I decided to visit Loas in too short time and made me no time to think where to visit.. I surfed the internet and found this Rivertime Resort.. It is situated 29 kilometres north-east of the Lao capital on the south bank of the Nam Ngum river (a tributary of the Mekong). The location is mid-way between Vientiane and the... More

The view is beautiful and it is a very unique concept to me. Basically you pre order all of your food and the you board a boat with a table. It is very intimate because you have one waitress and a river captain that you never see. If your beer gets low, she is quick to refill it. And by... More

Great location with a huge amount of potential, sadly this "eco" lodge has seen better days. It would be great to see this place receive some attention, particularly on the more pressing areas where safety is of concern like the floating restaurant which was in desperate need of repair with an alarming number of floor boards rotting through. The huts... More

Stuck for ideas of where to stay near Vientiane we came across this and as travellers we thought we'd treat ourselves with a more expensive accommodation than we were used to on our last few nights. First impressions of this place are great. It's quiet (until later) green setting on the bank was initially ideal for us to relax on... More

I got picked up from the friendship bridge by Sit who was really nice and friendly. I stayed here for 3 days before Christmas, it's right on the river which is beautiful and peaceful. The staff that I met were really helpful. It is really relaxing, I would recommend the Lao massage! It's a nice place to relax for a... More

I think this place could be good but unfortunately it isn't living up to its potential. The main problem is cleanliness. We are aware that it is an eco-lodge but that is no excuse to let the place become run down. If there is a hole in the wooden floor, ceiling or walls, like in our bungalow, fix it! Also,... More

Oh, how I wish it was so simple! I presume you're talking about lodge 1 which, I fully agree, has been absolutely ravaged by termites during this year's rainy season and is in desperate need of repair and the process has now been set in motion despite a severe lack of funds after a very quiet rainy season. However, unfortunately,... More

If you want to see the real Laos, away from the tourist spots, do yourself a favor and check out Rivertime. Manager Barnaby assures that all your needs are taken care of, and there are lots of excursions to choose from - make sure to include a trip to the Hmong village!

Certainly worth the drive out of Vientiane! Set your expectations straight before coming though, cause it surely ain't for the party crowd. If you're looking for tranquility, however, this is the place to be. The lodges do need a bit of maintenance work, but we still had a cozy sleep. They got a list of activities such as nature treks,... More

After visiting Lao numerous times I was delighted to find Rivertime Eco Lodge! Those who know about Lao the roads north can be very dangerous as in buses slipping off cliff faces and even tourist being shot on highway 13! you need to fly between destinations.. These are unfortunate risks one takes when visiting this delightful but dangerous country. And... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are a riverside ecolodge resort only 30 km outside of Vientiane which offers a true taste of rural Lao life but with most of the comforts of home. We have a floating restaurant on the river and offer a range of activities such as local village tours, tubing, cooking classes, massage, a sauna nearby, boat trips, fishing, free bicycles etc. We do our best to live in harmony with both the local people and the surrounding forest. We also donate $2 per guest night to local education and community projects. ... more   less
