The Don Chan Palace was supposedly purpose built for the ASEAN conference. Built in 2004 and comprises of 14 stories making it the tallest building in Vientiane. Located on the Mekong River on reclaimed land it is very close to the centre. There are a number of restaurants nearby and if you like walking you are 15 minutes from most... More

Yes it's low season but arriving after traveling for over 20 hrs we were placed on the 7th floor of this hotel .We were met with a wall of drilling noise from above and below .We complained and were told we were on the best floor between the maintenance /major reconstruction from 0730 am to 2130 pm !! With no... More

I have stayed here several nights for business. Plus point: luxurious hotel, impressive design and very comfortable. Large & clean room, quick service are another advantages. It is close to the riverside street which have many good restaurants and bars - really important if you want to enjoy nightlife here, because in other places they close very early ~7-8pm!!! But... The hotel is very central and close to many restaurants and bars. The staff is very kind and the hotel is clean and cosy. The swimming pool was also very refreshing. We are very satisfied with our choice.

It was our first time to Laos, Vientiane! We were surprised with its nature and its beauty. The airport service provided by the hotel was great. The staff at the Don Chan Place always had a ready to go smile on their face every day , every morning. The selection of food was limited, a lot of bakery products ,... More

I love Laos and Don Chan was suppose to be the best in Laos. The hotel really need renovation because all the furniture and electronic is so out of date. I really hope they will do something about this because the place have so much potential.

Not the best of experiences I had so far, especially considering the services one would expect from a Hotel that boasts of a 5 Star rating. Huge bulky furniture, out dated wall papers, considerably far from the Downtown central areas and the room service needs an immediate chin-up. I was having trouble connecting to the Hotel Wi-Fi and this guy,... More

We were told the hotel services improved after the change of the ownership. Now the new management team is trying to improve in every aspects of the hotel operations. The results obviously is still mixed. One the hardware side, the room is small and bathroom is smaller. The desk, bed, and other furniture in the room are getting old and... More

Stayed a night. Luxurious and overall comfortable but not quite deserving of a 5 star rating it claims. Asked for a little ice and gave me a bucket of ice and charged me 24000 kips for it. Other hotels would have provided it as a service. Booked the airport shuttle and it didn't show up. They had to scramble a... More
