we booked what we thought were 'Deluxe rooms' at the Mandala Boutique hotel believing - as the website says - we would have a private terrace - but not so - not only did we not have a terrace we were put in rooms adjacent to the restaurant meaning there was no privacy - for example in the morning as... We were delighted with the service and amenities of this charming hotel. It was indeed a bit of a walk in and out of town (or 30,000 kip for a tuk tuk if you're a good bargainer) but the walk is cool and quiet in the evenings along some of the main sights in town. Our superior room was charmingly... More

Dear Klozknitz, thank you very much for the kind review and positive feedback. The breakfast menu will be have an even bigger variety in the near future as we have a new chef and we are working on the menu. Also, during your next stay you might take one of our new bicycles for a ride into downtown. We are... More

My first impression was great, a graceful old Colonial mansion tastefully restored with a beautiful new outside dining pavilion. The superior room I had reserved was a bit small so i changed to a suite with it's own outside area. Very nice. I had the hotel get me a tuc tuc so I could see the town and orientate myself.... More

My wife and I have just stayed in this hotel for 2 nights at the end of a group tour of Laos. The remodelling is close to completion and it is being renamed Mandala Boutique Hotel. This hotel is of excellent quality, the rooms are absolutely fantastic, clean and beautifully furnished. Proper showers, air-con, safes, bottled water, tea and coffee... More

I wanted a peaceful place tucked away in a local area of the capital city and this is exactly what I found. Although they were in the middle of remodeling, it was quite perfect. A very welcoming and charming place filled with wonderful energy. A delightful staff and cozy rooms. I was surprised though they served Nescafe instant for breakfast... More

We changed to this hotel at a late stage in our trip somy research of it was only brief. Unfortunately!!! The rooms are stark, soulless and basic. The mattress was sobad we could feel the springs through it but worst of all there iis building works going on from early in the morning till late at night. All of the... More

Really well designed and spacious rooms, comfortable bed, good A/C and great bathroom with raining shower. Hotel still had a few renovation works going on during my stay but I'd give it a couple of weeks to be finished then it will be perfect. Wifi was not working but manager and staff (who were very friendly) explained that they just... More

spacious suites, quiet location, clean. Le Leela is a very new (i.e. still being built whilst we were there) hotel, with lovely modern suites. The construction going on could not be heard from our brand new room, and until we went for breakfast we didn't really notice it. Our room had a separate seating and tea/coffee area where we could... This hotel has great potential but clearly has no management, and the staff very little hospitality training. Yes, it has nice enough decor but without service to accompany it, it means nothing. The mattress was really bad, the shower head was broken, the AC froze us, the room was full of mozzies, the breakfast was pretty crappy...and in Laos there... More

Dear Guests, I am the new General Manager of Le Leela. We have just taken over the management of this beautiful property. The hotel did not have a manager for the last year and was run down. We have taken immediate actions to improve the overall service of the hotel: - Cleanliness - English speaking staff - Good breakfast -... More

If you like quiet, this place is excellent. The room we had (superior) was large and roomy. The only problem was the air conditioner was above the bed, making one person freeze while the other was wondering where all the cold air was. it wasn't too far to walk to the shops if you like walking, and we walked to... #3 Spa Hotel in Vientiane
Official Description (provided by the hotel)
As Vientiane changes, so does our villa. Originally built as a private residence for a French family in the 1960s, the site became a school with up to 500 children in 1992 before it was turned into a hotel at the beginning of this century. Despite the changes, our guests still can feel the privacy and comforts of home in each corner of the hotel. The four original buildings host 23 newly designed rooms and are surrounded by a green and cozy garden with seats under large shady trees. The Mandala Boutique Hotel is located in a small side road away from the busy streets of Vientiane, but within walking distance to the city center and just a 15-minute drive from the airport. ... more   less
