Beautiful historical hotel and rooms. Pool area is a little poor. Staff is friendly but don't know always how to act which leads sometimes to strange situations. Quite funny sometimes, but not for a 5 star hotel, and at these rates. Clearly the result of poor management. A real pitty because the building is very nice and classy.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience. I have taken note of your comment about the pool area. I admit that with the rainy season and sudden gusts of wind during the day, the staff do need to keep up with the bamboo leaves that get blown into the pool. I'm sorry that your stay... More

Nice hotel. Rooms are clean and stylish, quiet pool (although Vientiane is a quiet city). Near Lao Bowling Centre and Night Market. Staff is helpful but for billing itself as a luxury hotel, a guest should not have to ask for towels while swimming; the concierge should be able to organize bicycle tours and assist in bike rentals.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience. I'm sorry that your stay with us was not up to your expectations. While we always have towels waiting for guests at each sun bed around the pool, it is the rainy season and we do remove them each time it rains. We're sorry that that the towels... More

The hotel looks very grand and has a lovely interior. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The hotel is centrally located and there are plenty of good restaurants and bars in the area. Breakfast was pleasant but dinner seemed to be very expensive though we did not eat there in the evenings. The pool is fantastic and nicely looked after... More

There is no doubt that the Settha Palace is a stunning hotel in Vientiane. Our room was the epitome of colonial chic & the pool surrounded by fragrant champa trees was the perfect place to cool off after a long day. Service, however, could be slow at times, but we were on holiday so if wasn't really an issue. If... More

For people who are looking for a quiet place to swim, you can swim at Settha Palace for 20 USD per person. The ambiance is great, quiet, calm and service is good. I read in Lonelyplanet that I could swim her. Dress appropriate, it's a top quality hotel, so don't come in with your flipflops. The price for the swimmingpool... More

Having lived in Vientiane from 1970-73, we decided to experience the renovated property in 2013. An old world classic hotel restored to its colonial grandeur with an outstanding pool area, in a shaded location. The hotel is just a short walk (be careful at night due to the roadside broken drain covers) from the fountain and restaurant area; a little... More

The Settha Palace Hotel is housed in a lovely french colonial building in a convenient location in Vientiane. We booked airport transfers along with the accommodation and were met at the airport by a driver in an old restored London taxi. The hotel is only a short drive from the airport. The hotel appeared to be very quiet during our... More

I was last in Vientiane during "High Season". One ought to consider this hotel during the LOW SEASON as well. If one is visiting Vientiane many times, then one goes to one's favorite places, and then returns to the quiet and cool rooms (public and private) of the Settha Palace for respite and reflection. Don't mind the small extra cost... More

I love old architecture and being able to stay at his hotel was like staying at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore or the E&O in Penang. It was in 2002 that I was here for my honeymoon. The city itself doesn't have much to offer but the hotel was delightful,

The service at the Settha Palace is awesome. Their team from the pool staff to the valet were always friendly and willing to share the days stories/events. There were helpful and pointing direction on how to get around the city and the many historical places. The location of the Settha Palace is excellent when you stay in Vientiane . You... More
