The hotel is in a beautiful house, dating back to French colonial times, it immeditately makes an impression. The furniture is all dark wood, classical to match the ambience of the hotel. The rooms are spacious with huge four poster beds, a tv, mini bar, desk and a small sitting area. The bathrooms are big enough for both a shower... More

I find this hotel quite pleasant ( only stayed one night though ) but in need of refurbishment Difficult task, I reckon, when one wants to keep the original touch and add modernism to please the guest. It could be the equal to the Metrople ( Hanoi ) or the Oriental ( Bangkok ), all due allowances This being said,... More

Lovely hotel with colonial style. Staff very helpful, polite, kind & friendly. Room was very clean, good amenities, big and comfortable. Breakfast with various of breads, cheese, cold cuts, many more... and good coffee. We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. We'll come back again to this lovely hotel!

We only stayed for one night in the hotel (thankfully) and in Vientiane, neither impressed me. Unfortunately we arrived on a Sunday which is a very quiet day in general, hardly any locals around or fellow tourists for that matter, traffic very quiet. I was quite taken back how quiet the whole place was after visiting Hoi An, Hanoi, Hoi... More

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience. It is currently low season in Laos, so during low occupancy days we serve most of the breakfast items a la carte instead of having a full buffet spread for a limited number of in house guests. I have taken note of your comments about the breakfast experience... More

A museum piece of a hotel. Pure French Colonial. All 29 rooms formerly requisitioned by the Communist Government during the revolution and turned into a pig sty--chicken coop. This family owned hotel was not forsaken post-revolution, but rather reclaimed with a huge amount of pride. We loved everything about this place. Some complain about AC noise, but we travel enough... My wife and I stayed in a suite (room 202); as such I do not know if the problem we had is replicated in other rooms, however I suspect it is - the issue is the noise of the air-conditioning unit. The air-conditioning is provided through a metal grill high up on the wall (about 2.5 meters high) and it... More

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience. Vientiane is experiencing a very late arrival of the rainy season this year and it is unusually hot & humid, hitting up to 37 degrees Celcius. So, at such temperatures, most guests find it necessary to turn the air con fan on high in the room to reach... More

From the moment you enter the foyer you realise you are in for a special treat. We were greeted with a cold towel and refreshing drink welcome from the 37C temp outside. The suite was superb. The ambience was so traditional. Everything about it was gentle and relaxing. The pool enveloped us from the outside world. The food was average... More

Our second time in this hotel. My husband I both agree Settha Palace has gotten even better from our first stay. eg. We got flower garland on arrival. Personalized welcome card with hotel's recommended activities. And they got a very beautiful new spa. Settha Palace oil massage, signature treatment was truly awesome. next visit we hoping they will change sun... More

The Settha Palace is truly Lao, but the setting harkens to the colonial past -- marble floors, tall windows, porcelain door knobs. The staff is very helpful and always courteous, running up to us with large umbrellas when we started to go out in the rain with our little travel umbrellas. The hotel and its grounds are handsome and restful,... More

his was the best ever experience, after visiting Vientiane on three different occasions. We used to stay at Green Park Hotel, but found The Settha Palace truly magnificent in terms of venue and overall service. Two nights went too fast and we shall be back to this lovely colonial retreat!
