I have been reading some of the other comments and there must be another hotel with the same name. I simply can not belive that some people find this hotel nice. We booked a excutive suite to me, my wife and our 2 kids for a price of $80. The staff showed us up to the room and we were... more

Our bus arrived a block away from this hotel so we checked it out and decided to stay. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff very kind. Our plane left very early and when we checked out they gave us a bag with a vegetarian breakfast, I can't even remember how they figured out we were vegetarian but somehow... more

For the first time in eight years or so, the management of the Lane Xang hotel has changed their prices. From now on, expect to pay 36$/40$ (single/double) for a night, including breakfast buffet and use of the swimming pool. I agree that the hotel has seen better days and the breakfast buffet is not the most wonderful one can... more

Centrally located & close to the Mekong - Russian built hotel and it still has that run-down socialist aura. I believe some rooms have been renovated, so insist on one of these. Our room was functional but grotty especially the bathroom. However, the sheets were clean and the a/c and fridge worked. Staff are friendly, but skip the breakfast and... more

As you walk towards this hotel you see a run down, very unappealing looking building. But don't judge it by that alone, the inside is another story entirely. Because when you get to your room, or certainly the ones I saw it gets worse. Mould on the walls, mould in the bathroom, light fittings ripped from the wall, harsh fluorescent... more

We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of the new years celebrations. We chose it due to the location and the price. We booked a suite with two seperate rooms on the front of the hotel. It had a small balcony, two televisions, one in each room and a fridge in the sitting room. Hot or cold water was... more

It's rumoured that the Lane Xang was the place to meet secret agents during the cold war. Often reviews of the Lane Xang suggest it's in need of a facelift. I saw no evidence of either. The room was clean. The shower was huge! The staff friendly and helpful. The buffet focuses more on quantity than quality and the coffee... more

Having read many negative reports we were pleasantly surprised at the standard. Room was large, pool was clean, massive multi cultural breakfast (including American). What do you expect for $33 for two people?Very well situated close to city centre (such as it is!) and to Mekong river. Staff were helpful.Drinks comparatively expensive. more

The front driveway is impressive and the garden is beautifully kept but that's about all we found to like about the Lane Xang. (apart from the bloke in the guard box at the front gate saluting us). We booked it from our previous city on the basis of its write-ups in various guides which talked about its cold-war glamour but... more
