Situated along the road to the Wattay airport and close to the city center, Mercure Hotel (the former Novotel) offers friendly service, quality rooms and a relaxing swimming pool with bar and outdoor restaurant. The morning buffet is super quality! There used to be a sort of discotheque in the immediate neighborhood but I haven't heard about it anymore during... More

Stayed four nights for a business trip in mid January. Good standard rooms. Hotel in very good shape. Good quality restaurant, with excellent breakfast. This is a developing country so you can´t expect everything always to be perfect, but the staff was very friendly and helpful. Very easy to access by car, and only a couple of blocks off the... Has not been updated for decades. Desperately in need of new paint, fittings, furniture and atmosphere. Bedding clean, but curtains dirty. Geckoes in the room add "atmosphere". Half way between city and airport, but for more than a stopover, head to something better closer to the city centre. Not recommended unless desperate or for a brief stopover between flights.

I visit Vientiane a few times each year and decided to try the Mercure on my most recent visit. I will not be staying there again. Location is horrible: A little too far from the centre to walk in the heat and its difficult to get taxis; The rooms are ancient - dusty, no decoration, uncomfortable lumpy bed; Internet, while... We were disappointed with this hotel. Showing its age. Rooms average, bathrooms old style shower over bath. Pretty basic room. Old style box TV on cupboard small screen. We stayed here for the pool, spa and sauna. which was very average. Sauna and Spa they may as well NOT HAVE. Would hardly work and of no heat benefit. So outdated.... More

I would say it is a comfortable hotel to stay in Vientiane. Room is considered spacious for 3 persons (wife, daughter and myself) though the facilities can be upgraded for a more sophisticated interior design. We were here for 5 days and the night market & Mekong River in just not very far from the hotel location. The breakfast is... More

Not big for a Mercure hotel....... only 4 storey in sort of a L"-shaped" block...... but cosy. Clean, neat, well maintained although the building is an old one. Love the small pool, Le Café restaurant (had the buffet breakfast and dinner). Ample parking space. Room was acceptable (can be considered as spacious) for price paid. Down-side was the bed is... They advertise this location ( I avoid saying hotel ) as a 4* facility. According European standards it would be 2* MAXIMUM! The beds are old and smelly, the TV is prehistoric, the bathroom and all wet room facilities are just outdated and dirty. There is not one decoration ( like a picture, painting, flower etc ) in the room... More

The bedroom and bathroom are dated and the television is pre 1990 ! Beds are comfortable and the room large , though in need of refurbishment. The breakfast was exceptionally good with an excellent choice served in the dining room overlooking the pool. We found that the air con outside the room was noisy (positioned just above the window) but... More
