Despite the negative views by others I quite liked the hotel. Compared to others I have stayed at in the city it was not too bad at all. I found the hotel staff helpful & pleasant - even enough that they advised me NOT to take the overpriced hotel taxi & arranged a private hire saving 50%. The room was... More

Our last night of our Asian holiday was spent at the Vientiane Plaza Hotel. We had requested any floor other than the fifth (as we had read previous reviews) - we were put on the fifth floor. Very little English spoken at Reception meant we stayed on the fifth floor. Our room was basic. The door to the bathroom would... More

Room was o.k.. Everything worked, but I can get same quality in half price nearer city center. Hotel is located same building as many company offices and is about five minute walk to Nam Phou (fountain).

PROs - Sincere aplogies for not being able to find anything positive to comment about this hotel CONs - Entire building is very old and lobby is worn down - Sharing the same building as an office tower - Rooms are in need of refurbishment (probably has not been upgraded since the war) - Beds & linen are dirty -... I'm afraid we must endorse those adverse experiences that have recently been posted. We agree with the comments about the fifth floor. The area outside the rooms on that floor was cavernous and unwelcoming. The hotel felt virtually empty. We found ourselves alone in the bar and similarly virtually alone at breakfast. The hotel lacked atmosphere.

Just got back from 3 weeks in Indochina and this was the worst hotel we stayed in by far. Pity I didn't read Tripadvisor before we left. All the problems experienced by others came our way. Virtually non-existen English speaking staff, Air Con not working or switched off. Changed room 3 times before getting a room where we could sleep... More

Arrived here after an early evening flight. Our tour included a 3-course dinner here which our guide reminded reception of on our arrival and that he would pay our bill next day. It was about 6:45 pm when we arrived and dinner was booked at 7:30 pm (dining room closed at 9:00pm). When we were shown to our room, we... More

The Vientiane Plaza is a large centrally located hotel. The rooms are very large with huge beds (2 Queen sized side by side) although the bathroom is quite small by comparison. There's no pool but the internet was free

Why is it that the more expensive a hotel the more likely they are to charge for Wi Fi? At this hotel, described as 4 stars for Laos, whatever that means , they charge a huge amount for it , when we stay at a hostel , backpackers or normal hotel it comes in free of charge ? I don't... More

I did not like anything about this Hotel. It feels like a haunted hospital, the atmosphere in Level 5 was even worst, plain looking floor tiles, no carpet in the hallway, echoing noises reminding me of a Creepy Scary movies (Room #13) - website was definitely deceiving!! The room was average, nothing special basic and simple, it would have been... More
