Top ratings in my book for location and friendliness of all the staff but I am surprised that the Salana occupies TripAdvisor's top hotel spot in Vientiane . We spent a week in one of the three suites - nice room but nothing special , four star if I am generous . Breakfast buffet and room service again "good" rather... More

I stayed at this hotel with my partner and I think the location of this place was very central. A walking distance to most of the restaurants and shops. The staff is very friendly and the decor has a very nice Laos feel to it. We had a king room which was quite spacious and relaxing. A pleasant stay over-all.

I booked this hotel for ~$150/night but used a ~$100 off coupon and still thought this hotel was poor value. The rooms are super tiny. The price this hotel is asking for a room FAR exceeds the cost of other hotel of similar age in VTE. You are paying an extra US$100/night for chocolates on your pillow, silk sheets on... More

This was a great introduction to Vientiane! It has it all: nice rooms, elevator, varied breakfast (Western, including omelets and coffee machine drinks, as well as congee, Lao set, and dim sum). I enjoyed the hotel decor as well. The location was very convenient. I took an early morning walk and got photos of the friendly residents and business people.

The Salana is in a great location, near restaurants and shops. Much thought has gone into the decor which is very tasteful and typically Lao. My room was very comfortable, the staff speak good English and I enjoyed the breakfasts. I also went to the bar which is lovely but a bit dark (I enjoyed my cocktail and prawn spring... More

Recently on a trip to Vientiane, Stayed in Salana Hotel. It is locate din the heart of the city. Staff is very helpful. Rooms are bit small but quite cosy. Breakfast is routine. Bit expensive but Worth staying. Better to use hotel airport transfer.

It was the first trip to Laos. I was able to relax in a hotel. There is a feeling of cleanliness, and the room is comfortable, too. The staff was also good. Unfortunately, when we took a nap, the staff knocked many times until I woke up. She brought us chocolate in the afternoon.! And I thought that a bar... More

While a bit pricey, it IS an extremely well run/well done hotel. Beautifully appointed and comfortable rooms and bathrooms, gracious and helpful staff, excellent breakfast buffet with a variety of choices and with a central location.

The staff here are very kind and friendly. You would be greeted by them whenever they see you. They even allowed me to check in early when they noticed how tired I was after the night bus from Luang Phrabang. The buffet breakfast is full of choices from Laotian, Asian to Western styles. The food is quite tasty. The view... More

Our first visit to Vientiane and to Laos. We arrived on Bangkok Airways from Phuket via Bangkok. - we did, our bags did not! Staff at Vientiane airport were not very helpful, the sole employee did fill out a form for us etc. and told us to ring later as there was a TG flight arriving later that evening and... More
