On the basis of own past experience I can safely say that the Kyrgyz Altyn Hotel is certainly not on the same level of luxury as some of Bishkek's other hotels, such as the Silk Road Lodge or the Pinara Hotel. However, it is fine for a couple of nights and is located just off the city's main strip, Chui Avenue, where you have access to all necessary amenities. For my 65 US I got a reasonably sized apartment comprising a sitting room (with tv and a/c), double bedroom and ensuite loo and bathroom. This place might be ideal for a couple trying to keep their costs down, but who fancied a bit more room. The hotel - in truth more of a boarding house - does not do food, including breakfast, but I bought in a few basic provisions to tie me over.
Although I quite liked the place, I would probably opt for the Pinara Hotel when I next pass through town, which is only marginally more expensive and where you have all the trappings of a big hotel, such as a bar, restaurant and pool...
