The Golden Gate hotel is clean and offers comfortable en-suite rooms for approx. 24 USD / night incl. breakfast. The hotel is located near the Independence Monument, all major sights of Phnom Penh can be reached easily from there. more

We knew Phnom Penh resonably well and also had walked past the Golden Gate hotel a few times. We didn't ever want to stay there but travelling with a group we found we had been booked in there. The room was up 3 very steep sets of stairs but was clean, large and bright. The service was excellent and the... more

This is a very modest hotel. I had a deluxe room, and I expect this means it was a bit bigger with a naugahide couch. The room was pretty simple, but it had everything I needed, including free cable internet in the room. The bed was fine. Clean sheets, towels. Bathroom clean with hot water. No carpet in the room,... more

This is a nice little hotel. Staff is generally very hospitable, with that Cambodian charm. Rooms really vary-- try to stay in the main building. Food at restaurant is cheap and okay. Right in "NGO-land" with lots of shops and cafes near by. Lots of people so extended stays here... was here for over a month and got a better... more

If you need somewhere affordable with decent rooms, air conditioning, breakfast and free clothes washing, this is your place. If you want to be pampered, welcomed, loved and treated like part of the family you should go elsewhere. Advice is given helpfully, but not offered. more

A group of us stayed at this hotel for almost 3 weeks in the new wing in deluxe rooms. The rooms are simple and provide the basic amenities but they were clean. We appreciated the daily laundry service and the breakfast initially was buffet style which included both western and asian breakfast foods that were quite good. However if there... more

We stayed in this hotel based on the info found in Lonely Planet . It had a good location-close to the bars and restaurants which are within walking distance. The rooms were quite simple but clean. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was nice. There was no wifi in the room, it was only available downstairs in the reception... more

The Golden Gate is a clean and adequate hotel. The rooms are cheap and availability is usually good. WiFi only in the lobby, and basic facilities let it down. If you can afford $15 a night more – there are much better choices, but I stayed for 10 days quite happily and you could also do a lot worse. more
