I stayed at the Altstadt Hotel for three nights in June 2014, and was extremely satisfied. Different TA members understandably look for different things on holiday - this is a 2-star hotel, with 2-star prices and 2-star facilities. It is not a luxury hotel! As I'm used to 2-star hotels, I would say it is a "good" 2-star. The rooms... More

I stayed at the Altstadt Hotel for four nights last month upon the recommendation of another TA member. The hotel provides visa support which is essential in applying for a tourist visa to Azerbaijan. Mr. Elmin was fast in replying to my e-mail inquiries and flexible in changing the dates of my reservation. The location of the hotel inside the... More

I visited this hotel on my last trip to Baku. I found the price was really high for what I got and had I known better I could have had a better idea. The people working at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful (apart from the overnight staff). They were really helpful in learning my way around. Staying in... More

Hotel Alstadt sounds German but it is a simple Azeri guesthouse, however in the small dining area you can find some german football memories from the early 2000s. The hotel itself has an exellent location behind the walls of the Old City and walking distance from anything Baku can offer for travellers. The rooms are well used and need refurbishment... More

Friendly staff, clean room, great location. Baku is unbelievably expesive.......same price as Paris for worse quality in many cases...... So at least here location is good and price acceptable for this city. Taxi to airport is good and reasonable price for Baku

Lovely little hotel or rather more of a guest house, in the old part of the city. If you look at the hotels website you get the impression that it’s a big international hotel! The rooms are a good size, basic, but clean and tidy. The breakfast is fairly basic but perfectly adequate. Elmin the manager is a real character... More

The Altstadt Hotel has a great location, of course, right in the middle of the old citadel, and in a very expensive city for lodging, it's almost reasonably priced. But it's more like a small guesthouse than a hotel, My single room was small but functional. Bathroom was clean though tiny--the sink is about the size of a dinner plate... More

In a great location for tourism, this small hotel makes one feel welcome, and the value for money would be hard to beat. The room, with bathroom en suite, was small, but provided all the necessary amenities.

Based upon value for money this must outrank all of the other accommodation in Baku but to top this off the owner and his son are welcoming and so so helpful. We regret not staying here before and will certainly stay here next time.
