Overall we really enjoyed our stay in the Downtown hostel which is the newer of the two hostels this place owns. Most importantly the toilets were very clean and looked after every 2 hours. the rooms were a fair size with storage under each bed which as lockable. Each bed also has a light and a box you could lock... More

We stayed few nights in the downtown hostel . The hostel was very comfortable- you can crash on the sofa if you come too early for check-in, you can put your bags in a safe area, you can do laundry and order something to eat from the bar. The problem is the amount of people- in a female doorm they... More

We booked a room for 25$ (a lot in Vietnam) and our window was half meter from the building in front: no light...no a good start. They offer to change our room the day after but since we stayed only two days we reject. apart from that the staff is friendly and helpful. Tours offered seems to be bit more... More

We really enjoyed our stay in the Orignal hostel, it was lively and we had some craic! We arrived on a sunday, excellent timing as its free beer and the best day for the pub crawl. Staying here made our time in Hanoi. We also did the castaway halong bay trip with them, it is pricey but it is the... More

There is another hostel on the street called hanoi backpackers which is not a fraction as nice lookiing as backpackers the original. - clean and comfortable - lovely english speaking and vietnamese speaking staff -plenty of events organised for stuff to do - excellent knowledge of the area to plan outings We went on the halong bay tour organised by... Nice hostel - three different locations. We stayed at The Original and there was a nice little rooftop area with good, greasy burgers and cheap drinks. Went to The Downtown for drinks as well. I recommend the nachos. Also did the Castaway Tour to Ha Long Bay. The cups provided for Flip Cup were too narrow to properly flip. Everything... More

Pretty good location, we only had to walk for 5 minutes for most of the time. The rooms were a bit dirty, our sheets weren't clean and it took them a night to find some new ones. I think the price is slightly on the pricy side considering some of the hostel prices. But for an original backpackers experience it... More

I came here after staying in the new ma may hostel 2 years ago expecting a similar experience but I was very disappointed. Firstly on check in I was taken to a different building across the street to harmony hotel which I think they must have recently bought. The dorm rooms in this building are nowhere near as good as... This hostel is situated in a great part of Hanoi and close to all the local attractions. The facilities are modern and there is a nice friendly vibe within the hostel (possibly due to the one hour free bar). If you're staying in Hanoi I would recommend staying here!

So there are actually two of these that it seems TripAdvisor combined into one. I've stayed at both and they're both good. Hanoi Backpackers Original is nice but it's a bit smaller, quieter and in a less lively part of town. Relatively clean but not the best hostel ever. Hanoi Backpackers Downtown however is amazing. They have a great bar... More
