I was on a surgical mission to Cambodia with my borhter, also a surgeon. This place is hidden away and a bit hard to find at first. It an old hotel but the rooms are clean and charming. Make sure you turn on the switch for the hot water and all will be fine. I didn't know there was a... more

The hotel is in a great location right in the middle of the Old Quarter with the lake at the end of the road. The room we had was very nice, clean and well maintained but the bathroom was a bit old, worn and grubby. One odd thing though we booked an over night trip to Ha Long Bay and... more

This hotel was fine - clean, basic and cheap. My issue is that I booked a double room but when we arrived there were only twins left. My girlfriend and I were only staying for two nights so it seemed like quite a big deal but management were unhelpful and fobbed us off with the excuse that because the booking... more

We were tired, grumpy, disorentated and language barried out by the time we arrived at the Golden Sun 1. The staff were superb. Organised everything for us and made hanoi and the north of Vietnam so much more enjoyable because they eliminated waisted time. The rooms were a little cramped , but everything in Hanoi is constructed on a pin head. When... more

We stayed at the Golden Sun for 11 nights from 26th October and loved it. Our first floor twin room with balcony overlooked Hang Hanh St. We were in search of a city fix so street noise, having neighbours directly opposite and and being able to watch the endless stream of passers-by suited us perfectly. We booked on the internet... more

If you have to go through the wonderful city of Hanoi, you can not choose a better place! The staff is very kind and careful to all of your requests (thanks Mr. Ha and all the staff), the rooms are very spacious, clean and with all commodities (except hair conditionner for the ladies ;) ), and the location is amazing,... more

I stayed at this hotel, in different rooms, 3 times during October 2009, for total around 10 days, with trips in Cambodia, Central Vietnam and Sapa in between. I miss the smile of telematic Anh, the practical suggestion of Mai, the always helpful Thao and also the clever "night boy", who now is a "day boy" in another hotel. The... more

Our first trip to Vietnam (2 days Halong Bay & 4 days Hanoi) had indeed been memorable. Our host from Golden Sun Hotel 2 (Ms Moon, Ninh, Traong & team) were amazing and extremely helpful during our stay in Hanoi; from advice on what to do, where to go and what local delicacies to indulge in. Our room was also... more

Our group stayed at the Golden Sun Hotel #1 in October 2009. Hanoi was our base for our trips to Sapa and Halong bay, so we stayed at Golden Sun for a total of 3 nights between our trips. We had a great time there and it felt like we were returning home everytime we came back from a trip.... more
