On arriving at this hotel it looks a little foreboding with the staff a little like talking to a government official very distant. On arriving at our room it was even worse dark and nothing homely about it. The walls badly needed a coat of paint or something to brighten it up. Unfortunately I needed to return to the hotel... I stayed twice in Army Hotel. The first time for four days in a worn down room with only neon light, no bed light and floor mouldy and smelling (3rd floor, A4 wing). Second time I had a great room, clean, cosy lights, nice bathroom (A5 wing, 4th floor).

If I hadn't been staying here for work, I would have moved after the first night to another hotel. Although, I did not have any problems with the staff, the hotel itself is not well taken care of. The rooms are old, lack basic services, are full of electrical hazards, and my bed had dead fleas in it the first... More

The courtyard setting is a peasant sanctuary from the busy streets in the area...and it is close to the old quartier, one of the more interesting sites in the city. Although the motorbike traffic is making it increasingly difficult for pedestrians...it would be in the best interrest of both the small tretaillers as well as the visitors if a few... More

We have stayed at the Army Guest House three times in 3 years and have nothing but good reviews, overall. It is a very safe and reasonably priced hotel with a breakfast that is VERY good. Don't miss the Pho Ga !! (It is a soup based breakfast, but filling and very tasty) . They also have amazing fresh fruit... More

You'll get what you pay for here. The room had everything I needed but was a little on the spartan side with a faint damp smell in the air (but it was the wet season and dampness is a constant!). The food served in the dining room was fine and I had no issue with it. Staff service runs hot... More

We were in Hanoi for 4 nights and had 34degree weather and we were desperate for a swim. We went to the army hotel and paid 90,000 dong for a swim just remember to bring your own towel. The pool was clean and with very few people using it. The deck chairs are a bit old and falling apart. But... More

Staying at the Army Hotel was the best decision I could have made. I had my 10 year old daughter and we were there a total of 11 nights. The weather in late June and July was brutal. After doing one thing a day, due to the heat, we spent the rest of the day at the pool. It was... More

I enjoyed staying at the hotel and returned three times between visits to other parts of Vietnam. At 50 dollars for a large two double bedded room with balcony and the usual facilities I thought it was good value; the swimming pool was great and the main reason for my choice - Hanoi is very hot in May!. The breakfast... More

I loved being out of the mess of the Old Quarter. This property is clean with simple amenities and furnishings. It seems to have a decent traffic for local business groups. As a solo traveler, it was nice to enjoy the location and the quiet of the pool (daily rental for pool is also a possibility so there will be... More
