I just spent 10 nights at the Metropole for business and it was simply delightful. It is a grand old hotel with great service and the rooms are beautiful. The food at the various restaurants is also first rate. Two very minor gripes - Internet in my room was wired, which is a bit annoying. Second, the bathtub doors leaked... more

...the best hotel we have ever stayed in. As one local French restauranter said 'eet makes yoo feel like James Bond, eh?' From the moment the chauffer driven BMW picked us up at the airport this hotel was faultless. Club room on fifth floor, superb furnishings, exquisite bathroom, wooden floors, cool cool air conditioning. Club lounge breakfasts were superb, huge... more

My family spent two nights at this charming hotel in April. After the hectic trip from the Airport through Hanoi's chaotic traffic, the friendly elegant staff quickly made us at ease. From the moment you enter the hotel you know you are going to be in for something special. The hotel drips with style and is beautiflly decorated with attention... more

We stayed in the club room for 2 nights and the room was perfect. Great detail, comfy bed and really great food. Our butler is great and since we stay in club room we get a personal touch of attentiveness. but apparently this doesnt reach the front desk. I dont mind this but I had one minor incident with the... more

It has been a real pleasure to stay in the Sofitel Metropole Hanoi, first because it an iconic landmark with a central location within walking distance from the lake and the pagoda. The hotel has a great reputation but sometimes is resting on its laurels. I stayed in the old historical wing which makes more sense to me than the... more

Although I can understand other reviewers comments about the Metropole being overpriced, you can't take away from the fact that this is a lovely hotel! We stayed here for two nights when we arrived in Hanoi and a bit of luxury was just what we wanted after a long flight. The service is excellent, the location is excellent and the... more

We had no complaints about the Metropole - but it just did not feel comfortable. Everything is a bit over stylised and trying too hard - right down to the clashing carpets and wallpaper. It was a bit over priced as breakfast was not included. Am sure you could find much better atmosphere and value staying in any of the... more

Admittedly, we stayed in one of the junior suites, but at that price one would not expect to take a shower in the bathtub. The new addition to the MH is well done, but is yet missing the personal charm of the original part. All prices (food, bar, spa) are at European levels, which is definitely overrated in Vietnam. Quality... more

This was supposed to be a treat in the middle of staying mostly in 3 star hotels. However, it was more disappointing than anything. The first room we were allocated stank of paint but we were able to transfer to another room. As the restaurant food was so expensive, we went to the deli and bought a Baguette for lunch.... more

The Metropole prides itself on being around since 1901. One might hope they would have figured out some things since then. I have the same complaint as some other reviewers - the food and wine in the restaurants is way overpriced for the quality; breakfast is not included in the room rate and is very expensive; internet is not free... more
