This is the most wonderful hotel in the world ! Beautiful rooms - make sure you stay in the 'Classic rooms' - gorgeous foyer and restaurants, and wonderful meals. Staff were superb, it was a wonderful 4 days. Even 18 yr old son loved it. Absolute favourite hotel ever !! more

We booked two rooms on the Club Floor of the Metropole. The rooms were of a good size and looked to be recently renovated and were superb. The beds were exceptionally comfortable. I am very fussy about the cleanliness of hotel rooms and even staying regularly in five star hotels in Asia the cleanliness is not always up to scratch.... more

Stayed for 3 nights in November, in a classic room, original wing and did not venture into the opera wing. This is a classic hotel, beautifully preserved. The room was well sized and tastefully decorated, we particularly liked the very comfortable chaise lounge, a huge bath in the well equipped bathroom. The pool was a good size and comfortable. The... more

Lovely Hotel in a great location. We looked at many hotels before settling on the Metropole and although it was expensive compared to some other hotels we were very happy with our choice. It is situated in a great location and easy walking distance to most of the attractions but away from the hussle and bustle of the Old Town... more

I just spent 5 nights at the Metropole in the Opera wing. I was somewhat disappointed with the place. The service, especially in the restaurant is very spotty. During breakfast for example the staff seemed disorganized and harried. Sometimes I was offered a basket of pastries and bread, sometimes not. I don't know why they don't just put the pastries... more

I stayed on the club floor and from the moment I arrived until the moment I left have nothing but praise for the staff in this hotel. I liked the fact that breakfast, tea and drinks were included. The location is excellent, the staff brilliant and the hotel elegant. This was one of the best hotels that I have been... more

In our planning to add another city to our Asian travel plans, my husband mentioned Vietnam. After much investigating first we decided on Hanoi and then we agreed on the Sofitel Metropole. We have been traveling in Asia for a few years now, and have gotten spoiled by the top quality and the fabulous A+ service there. We never thought... more

Eventhough Vietnam offers so many adventures around the country the Sofitel is the best so far that you never have to leave; and we never did!. The guest room is a complete santuary where in-room dining is a luxury, not a convenience! My wife and I wondered at times where all of the guest were; did we dine too early?... more

In our whirlwind travel through southeast Asia, our time in Hanoi, and specifically at the Sofitel Metropole was the place we liked the least. Yes, the hotel is beautiful and the staff will check you in at your room, which is spacious and quite lush. Additionally, they have staff to arrange private tours of the city, which was very helpful... more

Great hotel, we stayed in the old wing. Service is impeccable, really good gym and pool, and great location in Hanoi. Plus: breakfast at main dining room (le Beaulieu). Only negative--do NOT try to the same dining room (Ie Beaulieu) for dinner. The "exquisite French dining" is anything but, and is basically bad and overpriced. Do yourself a favor and... more
