In our planning to add another city to our Asian travel plans, my husband mentioned Vietnam. After much investigating first we decided on Hanoi and then we agreed on the Sofitel Metropole. We have been traveling in Asia for a few years now, and have gotten spoiled by the top quality and the fabulous A+ service there. We never thought... more

Eventhough Vietnam offers so many adventures around the country the Sofitel is the best so far that you never have to leave; and we never did!. The guest room is a complete santuary where in-room dining is a luxury, not a convenience! My wife and I wondered at times where all of the guest were; did we dine too early?... more

In our whirlwind travel through southeast Asia, our time in Hanoi, and specifically at the Sofitel Metropole was the place we liked the least. Yes, the hotel is beautiful and the staff will check you in at your room, which is spacious and quite lush. Additionally, they have staff to arrange private tours of the city, which was very helpful... more

Great hotel, we stayed in the old wing. Service is impeccable, really good gym and pool, and great location in Hanoi. Plus: breakfast at main dining room (le Beaulieu). Only negative--do NOT try to the same dining room (Ie Beaulieu) for dinner. The "exquisite French dining" is anything but, and is basically bad and overpriced. Do yourself a favor and... more

I can not say enough good things about this hotel including airport pick up with the hotel BMW, speedy check in, great room, laundry service, concierge services for small and large requests to location. The hotel offers a french influenced charm, that makes it a very inviting hotel to come back to after a day exploring chaotic Hanoi. more

This is certainly one of the top hotels in all of Vietnam. It has incredible charm and a club atmosphere where you are happy to stay on the property. The only other hotel that compares in Hanoi for me is the fairly new Intercontinental. The Metropole certainly has the history and character but the Intercontinental is in a quite high-... more

from airport pick up to drop off the metropole was fine. our suite in the old wing was comfy, the pool was good, service fast and efficient. everything you would expect when paying top dollar in a city hotel. i wont over bullshine the hotel as it is just providing what it should and no more! more

This was the last hotel we stayed in on our honeymoon. We checked in for two nights, then went on a cruise of halong bay and then returned for one more night. On arrival, I was given a lovely bouquet of roses and our return from the cruise, we were upgraded for our final night. We also were given complimentary... more

I booked the club benefits package. The chief butler greeted us once we arrived. We were checked-in in the club lounge while enjoying our high tea. Just before dinner we went to the lounge again for some champagne. (The club benefits also include unlimited local calls from your room, which is definately helpful if one's on business.) We were very... more

I was asked to identify myself from a list of names on arrival. It took a long time to explain how my 18month old son and I were in fact joining my husband, who had arrived earlier. We were ushered across the hotel to a second check in desk. It took another 20minutes before we were shown to the room.... more
