We stayed here briefly at the start of our Vietnam tour. Our room was small but immaculate. Generous breakfast & delicious food. Faultless service from lovely, attentive staff, most of whom can speak English. Very happy to recommend this hotel which is in an excellent location.

Perfect location in the old town. Staff very helpful, breakfast excellent, restaurant excellent, but also many good eating choices nearby. A quiet oasis, welcome after a busy day in Hanoi. There was nothing we could fault.

Booked online based on previous reviews of the hotel and it's location within the old quarter of Hanoi. A taxi was waiting to pick us up from the airport and on arrival at the hotel we did wonder if we made a good choice when we saw the hustle and bustle in the street in front of the hotel. But... This hotel is based in the old quarter of Hanoi, which as a tourist is where you want to be. However the old quarter is very busy, with endless mopeds, restaurants falling out on to the streets, the general noise and hurly burly of everyday life is hectic! So to find this little gem in the middle of the bubble... More

While celebrating a family holiday in August (including my 50th later in Siem Reap) our holiday included 3 nights in Ha Noi. We had booked our custom tour through Indochina Odyssey Tours after reviewing what hotels each different tour group had selected, for reviews and locations etc. Our reason for selecting IOT was that they had selected The Essence Hanoi... The Essence staff helped us with everything - booking flights and hotels at other destinations in Vietnam for our stay, they put together a take away breakfast for the early mornings when we had to leave before the breakfast buffe started and just generally were very happy to help out with everything and anything. We couldnt wait to come back... More

This was the first of our hotels during a 3 week backpacking trip in Hanoi. The customer service was excellent and the facilities modern and well-maintained. Most of the staff speaks english and are incredibly helpful with arranging transportation and tours. They even helped us navigate the old town for a sim card. It truly is an oasis as other... More

Everything about this hotel is perfect-location, staff, cleanliness, food, rooms. The old quarter is busy & chaotic but when you walk through the doors of this hotel, you leave it behind. Our room was quiet well appointed with a big, comfortable bed, quality sheets and pillows. The bathroom was clean, shower heads excellent and hot water. What a treat! The... More

Right in the middle of the old town of Hanoi we are dropped off by our personal taxi driver. Outside, in the streets it was so loud, but when the doors at the reception were closed behind us, we immediately felt like at home with this nice, smiling and engaged personnel at the quiet lobby. And what a dream, the... More

We checked into the hotel only for the last night of our trip to Vietnam. Well located in the old quarter, the hotel is neat and clean with efficient service. The restaurant serves very good and authentic Vietnamese food. the rooms are simple and clean. Was upgraded to a junior suite which was marginally larger and came with complimentary snacks... More
