We had 3 nights here in this well situated hotel to all the iconic places you want to go in Hanoi. The staff were just lovely from breakfast in the morning to an evening drink at the bar . The rooms are quirky that is true but very comfortable and quiet considering the constant buzz of life outside. Travelling is... More

This is our second stay at the hotel, and I would still recommend it. Location: I think the location near the Opera house is good, though some people prefers to be nearer to the old town. The hotel is around 3 minutes walk to the lake, and from there only about a nice 10 minutes stroll to the old town.... More

From first stepping into this hotel, you are mind blown. I highly recommend staying at this hotel if you are in hanoi. Picturesque location looking onto French influenced streets. Hotel rooms are dark but make you feel like you are in a dream. Absolutely loved how beautiful and enchanting this hotel is. Hotel bar in the centre has amazing cocktails... More

We had read the reviews and looked at the website so knew more or less what to expect of this hotel (if you want "standard" rooms and no surprises, do yourself a favour and go to the Sofitel, Hilton etc). Yes, it is a bit tart's boudoir-ish and the rooms can be dark but the bed (definitely on the high... More

My 60th birthday treat turned out to be a huge disappointment. We thought we were booking a beautiful hotel in Hanoi, so much so we were going to return there after a trip to Hoi An for our last three nights which we paid for in advance from the UK. However, we just couldn't face going back so we forfeited... More

Dear MaryW Thank you too for taking the time to post a 2nd review, following the one already posted previously by your partner below. Considering the similarities of the two reviews, the corresponding names which clearly match those on our records, I feel it is safe to assume that there is little point in repeating my commentary already made previous... This hotel is not cheap but our room had a plastic stacker chair fronting what looked like a painted plywood dressing table. Which was next to a curtain (what happened to the wall?!) separating the bedroom from the bathroom. There was a monstrously large, hideous, uncomfortable armchair, but it lacked a castor which made it even more uncomfortable. The top... More

A hotel with whimsical interiors. The bed was great and I slept like a baby here. It had a nice location in the French Quarter. On the 3rd floor swimming pool, you can see the beautiful Opera House. The internet was much slower compared to the mid-priced hotels we stayed in Vietnam. Overall a nice stay. Service was ok but... More

Very, very close to Old Quarter but removed enough for some respite from Hanoi's hectic pace. Usual quirky MGallery styling. Our suite was huge, with a sumptuous bed, roomy sitting area and a fantastic claw-foot cast-iron bath. Great value accom...but incredibly expensive bottled water for some odd reason! Much cheaper to drink beers, or juices, or just about anything else.... More

Dear Cgmewatt, Thank you for letting us know how much you liked Hotel de l'Opera. It always our pleasure to receive such positive feedback. Great to learn that you love MGallery style and enjoy the advantages of the hotel location. Besides the Evian bottled water, which I do understand that being sold at a higher price as an imported item... More
