After the hustle and bustle of Hanoi Moon Garden is the perfect antidote, all birdsong and gardens,ml overly welcome tea on arrival and then discover that it's kept refreshed all day for just when you want another cup. Our room was beautiful, both elegant and comfortable. From a little early morning stretching before breakfast to a lovely cycle ride around... More

My husband and I hadn't known what to expect from our 2 night stay at Moon Garden, but we had wanted to experience life in rural Vietnam, rather than just cities and touristy places. The welcome we received at Moon Garden was excellent, and from the beginning we were given many Vietnamese experiences that we would not have enjoyed elsewhere,... More

An oasis of calm after the mania of Hanoi! The Moongarden is set in rural Vietnam, amongst lush countryside. The rooms are furnished with traditional furniture, spacious and kept spotlessly clean. Plenty of 'different' activities/experiences including a bike ride to the local villages, walking tour around the village, hand massage, herbal foot bath, cooking class, as well as a hot... More

We stayed for one night at the beginning of our tour and were pleasantly surprised. The accommodation was excellent (yes the beds are a little hard). The cooking class was basic but fun and the results tasted great. The walk around the village was an eye-opener, with the guide taking us into his home any introducing his family. Dinner was... Moon Garden is in the middle of the North Vietnamese countryside, some distance from Hanoi. It's relaxing, charming and friendly - particularly the guide (Toan) who works there part-time. The food is superb and the rooms are first class - although the beds are traditional Vietnamese (and therefore VERY hard). This didn't worry us as we prefer firm beds but... More

We recently stayed at Moon Garden & were very impressed by the whole experience. We have travelled extensively in Asia & it is difficult to find a place like this. It is Vietnamese run & has a local feel that is both warm & authentic. It is quiet & unspoiled & not over run by groups of tourists - a... More

Moon Garden is near the hamlet of Ky Son, part of the historic Duong Lam village, about 55kms from Hanoi. The countryside is beautiful, with rice and a number of other crops. Activities included a cooking class, morning exercises, a bicycle tour and a walking tour around the historic local villages. The food was very nice, and the staff friendly... More

Very nice place overall, especially if you get the communal room by the pond. We felt uneasy about the tour-like programme directed by the staff. We'd have preferred something more hotel-like with optional activities to book. Moon garden had a bit of weird feeling about it. Also not much time to relax. We felt rushed. We like biking so we... We came as a group of 2 couples, having booked and paid for the two-roomed Mango House several months previously. On arrival, one couple was shown to the Mango House, and one couple to the much smaller Frangipani room. (Note : some of the photos on the website are not of the Frangipani room, but the superior rooms). When we... More

A two hour drive from Hanoi, long way to enjoy a quiet moment. It was worth it. Regrettably the weather was bad, had it been better it would have been magnificent. You are greeted by wonderfully fragrant smells in the rooms which are very tastefully decorated with what looked like antiques and beautiful carvings and paintings. It is a great... More
