Location is great - very central. The thing no one tells you is that its called the Blue Water Hotel. The taxi from the airport had major issues trying to find it and didn't understand my English telling him it was next to the lake. The rooms are in a fair condition. Noise is quiet. Breakfast is OK - coffee... More

Despite no sign outside, this is now operating as Blue Water Hotel and Restaurant, connected with the restaurant on the lake across the street. They're also soft launching a patio cafe on the premises. Changes aren't made totally across the board: still see Empress towels and door signs. Rooms are nicely styled and good size, decor a bit dated, could... More

My husband and I stayed for 5 nights. Fabulous location close to markets and to the centre of the town. Room was big, could be cleaner and I am not a fan of flowered/brocaded bedspreads?? Free internet a bonus. Breakfast was just OK. Staff were very shy/friendly and each morning no greetings were received for example: Good morning. I realise... More

This is a relatively small hotel. Quiet. Great location overlooking the lake. Decent but not extraordinary breakfast. Room is clean & well appointed. Comfortable. I think we stayed in the same room David N referred to: rather tricky to open the door. Agree, many hotels and restaurants in Vietnam still don't seem to offer non-smoking facilities. This may seem fussy,... More

We arrived late on a bus and went to the first hotel name we saw in Lonely Planet. We paid US$40/night. This is far from being the worst hotel in the world but just a little effort would make this a superb place to stay. As it stands, this hotel is mediocre at best. The pros:- Great location near the... More

My wife & I spent 3 nights at this hotel picked because of its quiet location overlooking the lake. It was generally rundown and had seen better days. We were taken to the nearest room to reception. It was musty and the key did not work. Reception opened the door but we could not, called him back where the trick... More

This hotel must have seen much better times some decades ago. In line with the lack of maintenance the cleaning was below average and not in line with the rating listed. Hot water in the bathroom was a matter of luck. The very fresh climate of this hilly location was not catered for adequately and the night was freezing cold.... More

After reading a lot of other reviews, I was hesitant to stay here but decided to book the first three days of our two week stay in DaLat at the Empress. I was pleasantly surprised at the hotel. Though it is older, the rooms were clean and appointed very nicely. The bathrooms were nice and there was unlimited hot water... More

Best things about this hotel? Location at the lake: near to good restaurants ( especially the V Cafe): good-sized and reasonably comfortable room. Otherwise a tired place which must have been attractive in its time but now shows little sign of investment in upkeep. Fridge in our room did not work and was not fixed over three days despite several... More
